As previously announced ...... This year' great platform 1 give away competition will be a Photography competition. The intention is to swerve clear of railway modelling and try something a bit different. I have decided to open it up to any pets whether domesticated or wild. So animals, birds whatever. This is all about honing your photographic skills. It' about capture, framing, exposure and making the animal " the subject " One image per entry. Anyone can enter including the mods. When you submit your entry, you must as usual state that the image shown is you official entry. Please keep this thread for official entries only. Anyone with unofficial entries can post on the previous post. If you do upload unofficial entries here, please don' be offended when I delete your post. This will make it easier to judge once the competition is over. The closing date will be the last Saturday in July. So plenty of time. There will be one winner. The winner will be announced on this thread and featured in the Newsletter. The prize not sure.... you'll have too wait. Toto
Ok, The prize ...... Will be ...... A minature action camera / camcorder. Ideal for attaching to a wagon to take videos of your layout. I'll post an example up shortly. I shall order it up once the winner has been announced as it shall be delivered direct. It also ensures that the warranty does not start until the award of the prize. Good luck to all. Toto
Nice one Toto, if I can get it off my old phone I've a funny photo of Jake from a few years ago. Pete.
Yes, I dug out my old phone and found the original photo but getting it off is another matter as its a very old Nokia and non of my usb cables fit. I will have a run to my local 'puter repairer guy and see if he's got anything to fit, maybe get him to print it off for me. Pete.
Here is my official entry for this competition, we have a breading pair of Pheasants who have taken up residence in our garden this year, they are very accommodating and don't mind a bit that we live in the house nor sometimes need to get to the car. Here they are conducting their very serious pheasant business on the front drive a couple of weeks ago.
SMR Chris official entry Gulf Sunset This photo is of Moto my female Eclectus Parrot, as we watch the sun Set over the Gulf of Carpentaria at the aptly named Sunet Tavern, Karumba, Northern Queensland. 2017, Taken with my iphone6 that’s has taken over 25000 photos at the time
Not sure this is in the spirit of the competition but Joey and Skippy are trainspotting off Kangaroo Hill (itself a former snake cave). Dave
My official entry. I took this photo of our dog Fonz in about 1975. I scanned it from a dusty slide. He was a great dog, the embodiment of the 1970s. I looked a bit the same then.
Fonz looks a character and the sunset is something else as well. I take it skippy and joey have their notebooks in their pouches.
Here's my official entry. This is our 10 year old female ginger cat "Suki" in 'chilled out' mode. If you are thinking "I can only see three legs", that's because she does indeed only have three. She had some sort of unfortunate accident some five years ago, and came back up the garden dragging her front right leg which initially looked broken. A speedy trip to the vet, and they were mystified as we as to the cause, since there were no bite marks, broken bones or even broken skin, but we were pre-warned that surgery might be needed at some point, and the recommendation was to "See how it goes", as they believed nerve damage was likely. Some time later, although some slight use had returned to the leg, she was walking on what might be termed the 'elbow' of that leg, and veterinary opinion was that removal of the entire leg was the only option to give her quality of life. We reluctantly agreed, the operation was carried out and has been a complete success, most of the time seemingly having no effect on her abilities or quality of life, and she can still 'hold her own' with our Male ginger cat "Garfield" (So named because his main interest in life, like the cartoon cat, is Foooooood!). Keith.
Just a reminder that this competition ends at the end of this month. It's seems to have fallen of the edge of a cliff so ....... Get your entries in to be in with a shout to win the minature spy camera. An excellent tool for those cab ride video clips. Extract thy digits. Cheers Toto
