Hello and thanks to all for warm welcomes. Been railway modelling for some 50+ years now, with some breaks here and there due to other commitments over time.
Worked mostly in 4mm/ft scale with excursions into EM/P4/S4, and a couple of forays into European models (FS Italia and Austrian NG).
Current interest now that I've retired is primarily 3D printing and combining this with Railway Modelling. What is my current project? Well, having visited Colombia several times over the last few years, I thought I'd have a go at recreating a slice of Colombia (very interesting railway history there), which immediately raises a major problem - no Colombian prototypes available on the market. That's where 3D printing comes in. Have built a protype model of a GE UB10 class Bo-Bo loco to 4mm/scale running on 12mm gauge track (all Colombian railways, with the exception of a couple of modern line were built to 3' /914mm gauge). Now working on same to 3mm/ft scale (9mm gauge) simply due to restrictions in space. Pictures will follow soo.
    Cheers.

Hi Chris, Nope, nothing to do with any Tombee at Shapeways...only association with Shapeways is the occasional look at their site. Now, wondering whose pinched my age-old handle:scratchchin:

Tombee, Probably one of many using a similar user name, I just remember seeing the name whilst sorting through hundreds of 3D printed designs in the railway model section and with your mention of having to 3D print thought it may have been you

Hi Tombee3D. This sounds very interesting as we have just recently kicked off with a 3D section with Paul_l blazing the trail. A loco though ..... that's taking it to a new level. I'll look forward to seeing what you have done with that so far. Couldn't be a coffee train by any chance ..... with a handful of Kenco wagons. :avatar:

tanks for posting up. I am sure there will be a load of interest in this.

    cheers

Hi Tombee3d from another 3D modeller - (fairly new to this tho).

I'm using a CTC FDM printer, but have been looking at the new resin based printers as they look to have the ability to print with the final print quality for a finished model - just need to convince SWMBO that we really need one :whatever:

    Hi Ian.

Don't want to be considered too pedantic but's the railways in Colombia I'm looking at, and not Columbia - the female personification of the USA :)

    Hi Paul,

How I would love to be able to afford a SLA 3d printer, but just using a FDM printer with smallest nozzle normally available (0.2mm) Have recently been able to acquire a 0.1mm nozzle but it was defective (filament was coming out of the side!) so waiting for refund or replacement from China.

    Hi Toto,

Well, eventually there'll be coffee trains along with banana trains and maybe some passengers too, who knows:lol:.
