G'day all, and greetings from Perth, Western Australia. I'm new to the Gang, having been introduced to its existence by Kimbo. I had the pleasure of meeting Kimbo at our Annual Model Railway Expo approx. a week ago. I'm also relatively new to the Hobby/Interest of model Railways. I tell nearly everyone that'll listen that I'm designing my layout to entertain my Grandkids, but, truth to tell I'm really doing it for me now that I'm Retired. My Brand of choice is Hornby. In the coming weeks, months even years I'll be seeking your help and advise. Thankyou for having me onboard and thankyou also to Kimbo for introducing me to the Club.
Hi Rick, Delighted to have you with us. A great ( and very honest ) intro. We'll stick with the grandkids excuse. I think you'll find that you'll get plenty of advise / opinions on here to help you get to where you want to be. Remember, it's only opinions and nobody shall be offended if you don't take their slant on things. I don't know if you have started your layout yet or if you are still in the collecting / planning stages but where ever you are, post up and let us know. You will get loads of interest and suggestions along the way. Even if you are just " thinking out loud " with a few ideas of where you want to go, share your ideas. I guarantee you there will be a few twists, turns and changes of direction along the way. There is such a choice these days. Anyway, glad you found your posting feet and I'll look forward to following you on your journey. Cheers for now and I hope you enjoy your time on platform1 Toto
Great to see you posting Rick. There’s plenty of help here on the forum so ask away and we will all help you out. Kim

Hi Rick and welcome to the forum, looking forward to hearing more from you and the "grandkids" layout Cheer's, Pete.
Welcome Rick, and as the others have just ask, we all love a good excuse for a blether. And remember to keep the Grandkids layout in pristine order, you will need to do lots of maintenance and testing, all those items all need running in Paul
Hi Rick Are you really sure about Hornby? There are some great models available of Australian outline including of course W A models. Regardless of your final direction I am sure you will enjoy the hobby particularly with the time to do it in retirement. Cheers and happy modelling Richard
