Well, today is rest day after the 3 day exhibition at Rosehill Gardens. Tomlins creek attracted a lot of attention and the casual observer stood there watching the shunting manoeuvres taking place, often asking or saying, "I'm just watching to see what you do next.." With a few simple shunting moves, the questions had started. One of the most frequently asked questions was "Does this attach to a larger layout ?" The second most asked question was about the uncoupling method I use. Quite a few people commented about the scenery and the back scene, saying how good it looked and how it reminded them of the areas they have lived.

As with any layout over a three day session, it started to perform as it should at about midday on the last day !! :avatar:

I'd like to thank those who came along and assisted P1MRC over the days, engaged with the public and ran a loco or two, demonstrating the value of a small layout.

Thanks guys, you know who you are. :tophat:

Oh yes, thank you Richard (daveoetype), your C30T attracted a few more observers. I'm sure having them see the running qualities of this locomotive possibly prompted them to purchase one themselves !!:thumbs::thumbs:

    Cheers, Gary.

Thanks Gary and the team. It sure was fun running the two layouts over the weekend and answering all the questions. I am sure we have gained many new followers.
The new C30T was certainly a surprise and I am sure it will gain a lot of support. I will post a bit more about it as a product review.

    Cheers

    and happy modelling

    Richard

The C30T kept going and going right out of the box all day - no issues when I was controlling.

Richard, hopefully it was able to brought into the house safely!

It was great being a part of it and entrusted to run it for some time. Very good lessons for me in how exhibitions work from the other side of the rope. Good lessons too in scale head couplers versus normal ones, not as compatible as one would have expected. The art was when you made a false move and the wagons did not couple or uncouple as expected, to drive the loco away as if that was what you intended to do, rather than simply stuffing it up. I went and played with my under construction timesaver layout at home, can't get enough shunting! And discovered that 2 of uncouplers need to be moved and that with a little operational tweak, my system works very well now for the tension lock couplers. Luckily this was part of the plan before doing the scenery, much easier now.
People were very impressed with the layout, especially the pretty much invisible uncouplers.
And yes, Richard was a great salesman, I didn't go to the exhibition with the intention of buying a 30T, but now I have one too.
    Cheers
    Tony

    Tony,
I'm glad that you enjoyed 'the other side of the rope' over the weekend. At times those scale head couplers vs the No.5s were a PITA, but funnily enough, they were almost working perfectly together by about 3.45pm on Monday afternoon... :avatar::avatar:

    Mark,
Thanks for the kind words.

    Cheers, Gary.

August 11 & 12 for the the Marklin Modellers Sydney at the Thornleigh Community Centre. I'll be taking along Industry Lane this time round... Then the following weekend I have an exhibition in Canberra at the Malkara School, which I'll also be taking Industry Lane.

    Cheers, Gary.

It's been a while since any post, but I did want to say that I saw your layout at the Epping MRC Show and I really enjoyed it.

Thank you hartleymartin. At the moment I have been building a British O gauge layout for the Epping Exhibition (Rosehill) this year. I have a lot to do in very little time. I will be showing it as a 'in progress' layout.

Maybe the following year or the year after that, I'll get back into NSWGR modelling, perhaps even change the scenery on this layout to an industrial setting... ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Is it a personal layout or a group thing? I've got some British O gauge and wouldn't mind joining in.
