When I saw the word brewey I knew Ian would be somewhere near.

It says complete layout (just add trackwork) but when I went to the order page it was suggesting a download.
My printer is $$**%% so I need it already done.
Have e-mailed John but any ideas anyone ?

    Email a friend!

I may be wrong, but if it is a download, it will be pdf's. Send them to a mate on here, who can print and post them on to you.

Yes, all of John's kits are down loads, pay once, print as many as you like ! This is an advantage over kits like Metcalfe as if you bu&&er a Metcalfe kit up, you can not reprint it !

    Cheers, Gary.

A very interesting concept - I've grabbed one just to see what it looks like! Lots of small turntables and mini on-stage traversers to be found at Hapo-Bahn https://www.hapo-bahn.de/index.html that could be useful for a twist...

I'm sure John wouldn't be too happy if you or anybody would do that ! Please remember that John Wiffen/Scalescenes is one of our Competition Sponsors.

A while back there was a chap reselling John's kits, fully printed with instructions on ebay for twice the price. I can tell you right now that John was not pleased !

    Cheers, Gary.

What I meant Gary, was a personal favour to Mr Porter, like a neighbour, or family member or friend who has a printer, I was not implying it should be shared.

Have now got a local stationers shop to print it off, with John's permission.

Word of warning - there are 37 pages in the file. You won't need to print all of them off but but most.

The shop is doing the print for £12. I think it would cost me a lot more in ink costs even if my printer was working.

    Cheers

To resell someones product as a cloned copy without license is theft not to mention a copywrite infringement which is a complete no no. As I'm sure you agree with me Gary.

I'll have a quick think on a competition based on the use of this latest box kit as it sounds good. I'll need to take a better look at the kit but will come back ....... with a cunning plan.

As has been said already above though, can we just remember that as well as infringement of copyright rules that John Wiffen has an absolute entitlement to, a general rule of fair play also kicks in on behalf of the forum.

I understand that we can all have the dreaded " nae ink Syndrome " at some point and may need to find alternative methods / facilities in order to work around it in the short term but certainly transfer of John's files to another party is absolutely discouraged here.

Mr Porters idea was a good one using a local stationery shop on a pen drive and download via a photocopier obviously leaving no trace of the original file. Even your local library may be able to help.

    More on the competition later.

    Cheers

    Toto

I will surely order a kit but without any guarantee for the result. Maybe I'll burn it down after the first try.:hammer: Only God knows...

That'll be all the cardboard being saved then, and a potential shortage of large boxes of cereal - better be quick, you don't want to be left with only Bran Flakes left on the shelf :avatar:

:scratchchin:, maybe worth a punt

I've had a further look at the kit with the view to making it the subject of our next OO gauge competition. It does look good. I will need to think about the rules on this one as it would involve everyone building the same kit.

So .... initially, anyone entering will need to buy the kit to take part. However, at just short of a tenner, I'd say it's well worth the money to be in with a chance of winning a Class 05 Hunslet in BR green.

I'll come back with more news on the rules later.

    Cheers

    Toto

Just a thought Toto - to what extent will editing the downloaded pdfs in photoshop be restricted? Colour tinting? "pdf bashing" (cut/copy/paste)? o_O

Hello dpaws if I may be permitted to offer opinion realising your ask is directed to Toto. My original comment briefly highlighting the need to observe copywrite was in reply to Gary who rightly pointed out someone selling on Ebay had violated John Wiffen's product by reselling multiples for profit, nobody on our Forum has done that and Mr Porter went to lengths to obtain permission to print his purchased artwork via an external source. Editing for your own purposes a bought product by altering tonal settings does not infringe copywrite because the buyer has bought access to the artwork (not the intellectual rights of the artist) and the seller has agreed to it being reprinted as many times as the buyer wishes, cut copy and paste are merely digital tools provided to undertake that task in the same way that if I bought a bag of nails I'd need a hammer to knock them in. Copywrite would be infringed if the buyer repackaged Mr Wiffens artwork under different branding or made fake cloned product labeling by passing it off as their own in order to make profit.
