Hi just a small update. Nothing much has progressed on the layout apart from erecting a wood fence along the edge of the bottom of the rock face. I’m still waiting for railway goodies to arrive hopefully tomorrow.:scratchchin:

:hismiley:And afternoon to all. My railway items arrived this morning so I managed to glue the brick wall in place. I also bought a Bachmann water tank and crane. The crane is glued in place but I have just positioned the water tank just to show where it’s going once the wall has had some weathering. As you can see by the photos the fence is in place. The rock face will have some grass added tomorrow. I have laid some sandpaper as a guide to where my pathway is going. So here are some pics.

:hismiley:Charost thanks for the thumbs up. This is my first layout build which I am really enjoying. It’s going to be a permanent layout so I need to get it right. My era is GWR locos and wagons.:)

:hismiley:I have completed putting the coping stones in place on top of the brick walls. I’m really pleased with the results, and the brick work has been weathered as this area is where the engines will have refuelled along with muck, soot and grime.

Starting to look like a railway rather than a plank with tracks, great work Kevin :tophat::tophat:

It does look like a railway now , whereas before, it looked more like a structural joist, than a plank!;)
I guess it will be hard to knock off whatever you put it on!:avatar:

It will definitely not have fallen apart in 20 years time :giggle:

Progress is slow but the layout is coming together nicely now. As you can see the ballast work is complete along with the grassing and grass work on the the rock face. The ballast only needs weathering mainly where the coal bunker and water crane are. Buffer stops and line side hut will be fitted in position afterwards. Anyway here are some pics.:)

:hismiley:I have taken some better shots of my plank layout, quite a few items have been added to the layout. The real coal coal has worked nicely on the layout. I still have some weathering powders to apply to the track area along with some figures and a few line side items. Hope you like.

Hi Ron thanks for your comments, :thumbs:I was thinking about adding a lorry where the staithes are. Will need to order one for the correct era.

Just a suggestion, paint the front of the board... May look nice in white or black if you have some paint spare. At the moment, for some reason it draws my eyes away from the good work you have done.
are you putting Perspex up at the front or leaving open?:thumbs:
