Cracked on tonight. Almost finished this section. 436F2FB8-9BEC-4148-A0F4-DFB6FAE718DB.jpeg
Not much more to write home about as they say..

Still have to do some roof bits on the left hand structure. Now it’s time to start gluing up for the last parts.

    Nite nite

So, as the build starts to come close to the finish, it’s time to start giving away some the secret bits I’m doing to “finish” the model. I’m not giving all away till it’s complete, but here is some of today’s work.

Lamp shades being painted sat on the end of cocktail sticks.

Lamp shades- with gow bulbs from express models for 5 (they come as plain brass, so cream inside and a grey outside)

There are other items, but they will be disclosed closer to the finish.

We now have a name and a “company signage” board... I’m sure one fellow person on here will get it when seen..

Well the copper tape arrived, I did a test check on some scrap card with a small off cut of the copper tape and secured the battery leads to it.

    All was OK.

So, this morning (as yesterday I went out looking at aircraft with a former work colleague and had a visitor last night) after dropping the kids off, came home and stated up with the iron, solder and flux.

Attached the battery lead, as will be run from a 9v supply as this will give an adequate dimness/brightness to the bulbs.

I wired the rest in then.

After that followed 3 more leads with plugs for the upper structure.

More soon as the last few sheets are stuck and drying ready for cutting and building - woohoo!!

Now it’s dark, first light test.

The orange light to the top middle will illuminate the business sign, which fell off! I need a new pritt stick (other lesser glues are also available)

My only concern now is that I may need lights on the other side to illuminate the other side of the yard. As the track etc is now stuck down, my only option is to go under on the bottom. :scratchchin:

So, as I’m having the benifit of time off work (and kids at school) I’ve cracked on once again.

The plant room and walk way. The inside of the box will be bricked later. D02F6987-41C6-4ABB-BE93-634CB94911C0.jpeg
Excuse me in the background, best way to get this shot was to use the front camera on my phone.

    Few detail photos this evening.

    Overview of the yard

From the opening looking in. The back wall is now installed.

The added extra detail. Being as it’s a card model, I’ve looked and look and decided this door opening was lacking something... I decided it’s only purpose must have been for some heavy gear to go in, so installed an RSJ where a lifting hoist could go to take an item off the back of a wagon.

I’m now on the final bit, the conveyor. Again, I’m not sure what that will be fore on my chosen “trade” in the yard, but it’s there and I can’t think of anything else. (Which you can see in the first photo this evening as the skeleton frame).

Right, back to work tomorrow after a few family issues and 14 days off work (pre-booked leave).

    Have a good weekend.

Andy first of all brilliant modelling. With me being short on space boxfiles and work micro dioramas are where I model. Your attention to details and the lighting is brilliant.
Can I ask are you running your lights from a normal battery source. I only ask because I’m planning on fitting a lamp to the diorama I’m currently working on.

    Thanks for your kind comments.:handshake:

Standard 9v batttery at the moment.

No idea how long it will last with 6 grain of wheat bulbs drawing on it... :scratchchin:

Long term, it may get a feed from an external power supply. Being DcC the track is always live, so with a resistor I could take a feed from the track, or fit a decoder in place and turn them on and off from the controller...

    Ooh... what an idea!

Thank you Andy for explaining this to me. I will only be using one lamp so a 9v battery should be ample.

The last stage bar details... the conveyor...

Sadly I’ve made the first mistake here with one of the sheet overlays. I’ve put it on wrong way around... thankfully it’s the base, so you won’t see.

I may or may not get around to putting the cover and roof on tonight.

Still need to ballast the point work.
