    Hi Everyone,

Hope your all doing well, had to move last year around September and also changed jobs (woof!) finally have the table back together and and am working on the board 3 of 5 with a rolling stock yard etc.

I am in the market for a turntable as the tittle implies, I recently bought a Walthers self build 90' turntable with the motor for around $70(AUD) including postage and tried to slap that together, Im currently at a cross roads as this particular product is not shaping up how I would like and its appearing that i would not be able to run this as a indexed turntable with this method unless i could somehow backwards engineer the Walthers Turntable controller/decoder.

So my question is this, Should i persist with this turntable or should I cut my loses, look back at the enjoyment/challenge it brought and just buy the RTR Walthers 90' with digital controller or other brand that comes recommended?

    Cheers,

    Wombat.

Hi Wombat ref the above … my own personal view is that the minute the issue starts aggravating you give it up … it's only money (although I'm not saying money is unimportant it's just that in certain circumstances it gets in the way of enjoyment) a few months down the line it'll feel irrelevant. But hey I drink tinto and like goats .. good luck with whatever you choose!

Check this site out for motorising and indexing your turntable : https://www.locomotech.com/

Now I'm unsure whether it will adapt to the Walthers 90' turntable, but get in contact with them and they may be able to sort something out for you.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Thanks lads,

Ill probably just wait till the Kaleen ACT model show and try and get a RTR Turntable to install, frustration got to a peak over the weekend when trying to get it to work.

Depends if the diy challenge rocks your boat or not, and arduino controlled stepper motor is a fairly straight forward project, picking a 400 step motor (0.9 degrees per full step) rather than a standard 200 step motor (1.8 degrees per step) will increase the accuracy and add some form of gear reduction will also help smooth the drive out and again improvre the accuracy.
