A small part of the outer end of each bogie is cut away to give clearance for the NEM pocket to allow swing.
Once the bogie is clipped back into place, you can use your choice of coupling, in my case I used this type. (Bachman I think!). As the coach reaches a curve, the turn of the bogie pushes the NEM pocket into the curve and also extends it outwards to give more buffer clearance between coaches, retracting it again once the track straightens out and closing the gap between coaches once again. Apologies for 'Bombing the thread' Gormo, this is just another way of doing close coupling using 'proprietary' easily available stuff for those who aren't keen on experimenting. Keith.
That`s OK Keith, Yes it seems like a good system......very elegant once fitted and the expanding to suit the curve idea is very much like the Keen system. Excellent how to Gormo. I was thinking about the post Keith put up on those 'sprung couplers'. If the NEM pocket was longer you could CA a magnet to the end of it resulting in very close coupling on a straight section of track and allowing the coaches to separate on curves. Mind you it would be more expensive that what you have come up with ! Cheers, Gary.
