Great Chesterford Junction Part Two

Yes I think the GHOST is playing havoc with our electronic equipment, my printer died the other day attempting to print items for the railway........
So between myself, and the residents of Bamford, we have enlisted the help and expertise of the renowned Finneas McTaggert, Professor and lecturer in the paranormal at Nottingham University.
Professor McTaggert has been waiting at the entrance to the castle since late afternoon





According to local sightings and information, at around 8:00 pm each evening, a strange glow can be seen emanating from within the castle.





Apparently the glow also can take the shape and form of a headless man, or so it appears from a distance ,according to Clancy Charleton, a local man who has seen these things late at night from The Red Lion, .....some 1/4 of a mile distant from the castle.
It should be noted that the Earl of Ravencourt was executed in the courtyard of this very castle, during the Civil War, and the method of execution was beheading.
Professor McTaggert has stationed himself at the entrance to the castle in order to question any visitors and ascertain whether they have also witnessed any strange events





As the light of the day gradually falls behind the hills, and Ravencourt Castle slowly succumbs to the darkness, Professor McTaggert waits patiently for 8:00 pm





At the given hour, slowly the light starts to build from within the castle





The time has arrived to enter the castle courtyard and investigate this strange glow





We now, anxiously wait for Professor McTaggert to assess his findings and publish his report.

The plot thickens folks,
Professor McTaggert spent some considerable time investigating the strange glow in Ravencourt Castle last night, with no tangible explanation for the phenomenon .
The Professor had taken various measurements and readings with his portable equipment with the thought that he would ponder the results back in his laboratory at Nottingham University.
With no sign of a ghost in the castle, it would seem that the strange glow must be some natural phenomenon yet to be determined, and possibly the data taken would reveal some plausible explanation.
The Professor decided at 9:00 pm that he would take his leave of Ravencourt Castle and make his way back to his lodgings at The Red Lion.
He had traveled no more than a few hundred feet down the castle path towards Bamford ,when he felt a cold chill come over him, no ordinary chill ,but rather, a menacing chill in some illogical way.
He felt duty bound to stop and turn around and look back towards the castle, because his primal instincts for self preservation were starting to surface and quite clearly, for his own peace of mind, he needed to understand where this sudden chill had come from.
When he turned around and looked back towards the castle he could see what appeared to be a shrouded figure come out through the entrance and stand motionless beneath a small glowing light.
The figure and the light seemed to have replaced the unusual glow in the castle, or had they come from it.???.....is the light some sort of portal or carrier for this figure.....these questions were racing through the Professor`s mind as he fumbled through his bag in a panic trying to find his camera.
In the dark it was difficult, yet he found the cold metallic body of the camera and withdrew it from the bag.

Moving forward with the Bamford station building,
Windows fitted for the booking hall and waiting room. I then clad the inside of the back wall with a Scalescenes sheet that Gary dropped over the other night.
It`s a pretty good match for the download image on the wall next to it.





Then cut out a sheet of card for the floor for this section of the building and used some more Scalescenes textures for the floors. The tiles are for the hallway / foyer in the middle of the building.




Then timber floors for the booking hall and waiting room......I wanted a darker well worn look so these are ideal.





Just standing the parts up together to get a feel for how it`s looking





I`ve clamped the dividing walls to the end wall to drill two holes for the lighting track





The floor now being glued to the core of the building





And the rear bay window glued together and clamped and also brick texture sheet added.

Still plodding away at the Station Building.......in between other things.....
Basically today. I`ve been pushing to get some of the fiddly stuff done, namely Sills and Lintels......for me they always require minute adjustments when first put on the building because you can`t just whack them on all higgledy- piggledy otherwise it will look like a dogs breakfast.
It`s like when you walk into a room and a picture on the wall is hanging slightly off Horizontal.........it`s noticeable.....so time and care has to be taken with the Sills and Lintels otherwise it will annoy me down the line.
They were nearly all created in LibreOffice Draw, with the exception of the sills, which are just plain White paper......no need to over complicate the process....
In this pic below we have a hole punched through the wall apex for wiring and also a floor glued into the lower area.

I`ve drilled a hole through the top floor that will accept a 3mm LED to light the lower floor. The bottom floor will be side lit as if it were lit by a standard lamp in the corner.





All walls now fitted with Sills and Lintels and the rear bay window is glazed





I`ve shone a torch through the 3mm hole in the top floor to illuminate the lower floor to see if it works OK.?

G`day Folks,
The end wall and bay window have had curtains fitted and then they were permanently fitted to the core of the building.





Testing with a torch once more........all good...
I also sanded the back of the bay window to get a flush fit .......haven`t tried that before.....normally the ends of the card walls would be square, however to fit flush to the building they should actually be angled, therefore the sanding.





Then attached the front wall for the booking hall and glued two parts of the side annex.......all under compression until the glue dries.





Corner detail turned out OK..

Howdy Folks.......Happy Days......
Today once again I`ve been plugging away at this station building project for Bamford and now I`m starting to see it gradually coming together.
I`ve fitted in the various floors and walls and doors for the annex and cut out and skinned the floor for the private entrance porch at the rear of the building. All windows have either curtains or blinds and those that allow a view into a room will see a room background when the room is lit.
Here you can see the back wall ( left ), which attaches to the rear of the annex as well as the main building, and on the right is the annex. The lower corner of the annex has a brick column to support the annex above the porch. The column is made up of layers of card glued together to achieve the correct dimensions.





The brick column was then wrapped with brick paper





The rear bay window also had curtains fitted and the area between the open curtains was blacked out. This is the rear of the building which will be very difficult to see, so less detail required here.





The rear wall was then fitted to the building. This was done first to allow accurate alignment of the side section of the annex.





The annex was then added to the main building

Then moved onto fitting the dividing wall for the waiting room into the building





And then the dividing wall for the booking office





It`s getting there........the main building walls etc. will soon be completed and then I will have to turn my attention to lighting and then the roof and then extra details.

G`day Folks .....hope you`re having a nice day wherever you are in the World....
The end wall has been finally fitted to the main building.....this finishes the walls for the main building, however there is still another add on annex to come later.





The doors were also fitted in at either end of the hallway in the Booking Office / Waiting Room area.





Then moved onto adding detail to the bottom of the walls......this is Cream coloured cereal box card that has been given a Grey tone with a pastel marking pen and then cut to 4mm width.





The back of the building has been done too.




Then tried it out on the platform





I will have to add packing under the rear side of the building to bring it up to platform level. Actually this will determine how the rest of the township will develop from this datum point.





The building will have to be set back a bit further so the front of the bay window is about 12 scale feet ( 48mm ) from the edge of the platform.




I will have to sort out the lighting and wiring next, because we are getting close to putting the lid on.

G`day Folks.........I hope you`re having a lovely day wherever you are in the World....

Today I`ve fitted the lighting and associated wiring into the building.
For the Booking Office / Waiting Room two solid copper wire tracks were fitted through the wiring holes previously drilled into the dividing walls. The wires are anchored by being soldered to a strip of copper clad circuit board at each end. The circuit board is scored down the middle to isolate the wires from each other and each board is glued to it`s respective gable.





The LED`s are suspended across the copper wire tracks, making sure that polarity is correct, and then soldered in place.





A resistor is fitted to one side of the circuit board to voltage protect the LED`s and the remaining LED`s were fitted.
All LED`s are mounted in such a way as to keep them from view through the windows or doors.
The feed in wires, that will supply power to the building ,have been looped a couple of times through a couple of holes in the top of each gable in the core of the building to stop the wires being pulled and dislodging components.





Testing......all good

But I don`t think so.......just having lights in the building will do.......
Some more detail was added today.
A mid level brick coarse was added to the exterior walls.





Plus added the flat roof to the room directly above the rear porch.




I still need to fit some corner cover strips of brick paper to the mid level brick coarse and dirty things up a bit, but the basics are there now.
