Building a Spaceship

Paul the OO controllers should work, but may struggle on large motors with a slightly stiff not run in chassis.

Put an ammeter (wired in series) to measure the current draw, this will give you an idea of which decoder to buy later on.

Here is a few out of the box suggestions

Do you have a dc power supply - somewhere between 12V and 20V at 5 to 7A

If so this may do, you will need to fit a dpdt switch to act as a direction switch

Or this little cheap as chips gem - max 2A output

Small controller

This will give you a voltage and current value for the loco.

If you would prefer a standalone desk power supply - useful for many other things

For all my testing I use an ancient Gaugemaster unit that I bought cheap about ten years ago from from eBay which I am sure was designed with 00 gauge in mind d when it was new.
