Sorry chaps about the lack of 9F pics and build updates but currently I'm in Leek (again) sorting family matters, hopefully next week the side rods will have their final fitting with bushes files down to size and the slidebars with con rods assemblies soldered onto the motion brackets. In the mean time Ken can hold the 9F fan base if he wishes as he is doing a cracking job on his own build.

Mr Dundee if you can coax the Flounder into releasing one of his 9F kits for you to join the party that will be great too.

Nah he got shot of the lot, then found another set of wheels, hence the change of ownership of the wheels.

Thanks Andy but this picture is not taken recently, I'm currently down in Staffordshire and a hundred miles away from my kit builds and a very nice signal box kit you sent me not long back. For those who don't know my "off radar" absence is due to me dealing with my late Mother's Probate estate, her funeral and valuation of property... this may take some time so I'll dip in and out of kit progress updates as and when I can for the forseable future.

Condolences Paul, estate and probate of parents can be quite a long draining process, I've been there, take care, Jim

Jim thank you so much for your kind comments, it is much appreciated. I am able to deal with much of the paper valuations from Yorkshire, hopefully two more house valuations later in the week, meeting with the bank and collection of Will from solicitors. So it will be quite an intense week this week but will be back to Yorkshire next Saturday ... so hopefully a bit more 9F progress to follow.

Take care Paul, the 9F will wait, well for a wee while.

It can take a while, we were nearly 3 years settling everything for my Mum's estate - covid didn't help tho'.

Its been a bit of a topsy turvy time recently what with recent matters taking priority over model making but this week has given me a much needed break ... so it was back on the 9F and an oportunity to resolve a part of the chassis build which had preyed on my mind. The problem was that the right hand side connecting rod stroke was slightly out of alignment between the axle centre and the cylinderwith the effect that the slidebar assembly and cross head appeared to dip down on the motion bracket assembly, anyway the cause of this was traced to an ill fitting lug on the motion bracket which holds the slidebar fixing plate in position. So I dismantled the slidebar and con rod and with solder iron the offending lug was reheated to slot into its correct angle and with the slidebar refitted all was well again.

... and with a straight line of stroke. As shewn both hex and round 10BA bushes are used on the forward driving wheelsets and also on the crank axle wheelset too.

I've also made a start on fitting the motion rods which have been pre assembled, still a bit to do but this first side works freely without flat spots and conflictions on wheel rotation... some clearances are the thickness of two pieces of paper.

Was my vernier caliper sitting beside it ? As Mrs Bracknell would say "to loose one is unfortunate, two is just careless"
