Hi, I thought I'd show some of the various electronics available from NCE. Currently, they are being used on the R & GLR and some may be used on Highbridge as well. first up ( Non NCE ) my jesus box. Next up is my PSX2 which is basically circuit protection. I use one output for the lower level fiddle yard section and the other for the lower level turnout circuits. I have another which will be used for the upper levels once constructed. Next up shows a button board and a switch 8 side by side. The switch 8 allows my cobalts to be fired changing the turnout positions from my NCE handset. This was necessary as the cobalt motors that I am using were intended for anologue operation and did not have DCC decoders. The switch 8 basically operates as a central bank of 8 decoders each wired to a seperate turnout. The button board can be used in conjunction with the switch 8 to allow manual operation of the turnouts via a switch if you still like to have that manual / analogue feel about the way you operate the system. I have decided not to use that any longer. the button boards will find a use elsewhere on another gizzmo. hope the above is of interest. cheers toto
Hi Toto The dark side definately has its hold on you now, The PSX's are actually manufactured by DCC Specialities, they are excellant circuit breakers, and one of the few that will actually work with the NCE PowerCab (its trip current is programable down to the 1.5A that the powercab provides). For further details see here : - http://www.dccspecialties.com/products/powershield_x.htm Paul PS another thing to add to my to buy list
I have a PSX4 acting as guardian on my layout and wouldn't be without it... I've got audible buzzers on mine so I know in an instant when I've got a short.....
Toms is very similar, he gets a short, and we get a warning...." what the **** is wrong now" What did you use for the audible warn ing, as it may be something the lord and master may want adding. Paul
We get a three minute warning klaxon every now and then, we thought it was from Grangemouth Oil refinery to the west . . . but Its actually from the east telling us when Toto is switching on his layout Cheers matt
One connected to the left one, one to the right one, where's the third one connected too. told you the lord and master would want one, Matt does this count as one of yours or my jobs... the list just keeps getting longer. Whoose idea was it to let Toto post, we just get more jobs to do Paul
No idea mate, I'm on door duty, Until that's fixed he's got to climb in the windie. . . and he hasnae got a windie Cheers Matt
For those that asked... (Paul and Toto) the audible alarm for the psx pcb's by dcc specialities is called a 'sonalert'... Part No Digikey part 458-1005... and it solders into the circle scribed on the front face of the pcb. However, I had a chat with my local model shop (Sherwood Models in Nottingham) and they supplied me with a suitable alternative for roughly half the cost.....
Hi Matt, Let's get that on the urgent job list, a windie for me. Hi Mike, Thanks for coming back with that. I'll have a look at the link that you put up there. Many thanks Toto
