Hi there Big Yin. to the forum. A very Scottish ring to your handle. Have a deek about and when you are ready, come back with a bit about yourself. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum with us. Toto
No its a nickname given to me years ago by a scottish guy i worked with and it just stuck, 6ft 3 and over 300lbs so hence the big yin. Found out about the site via Gormos You Tube channel so with learning so much from his videos i decided to join the group. Not at a layout stage yet, busy refurbing my home before starting loft conversion for my layout. Try to get time to fix, paint, weather all the models and railway stuff i buy for the layout. I tend to buy stuff in poor condition that i can work on and make look good again, well hopefully it does.
Excellent. ..... I can understand the name now. Glad you enjoy Gormo's videos as they are a regular feature on here. The Maestro himself will no doubt be along soon to welcome you in. We'll look forward to seeing some of your recycling projects and follow your layout journey when the time comes. Many thanks for joining our community. Cheers for now. Toto
and a very warm from a sunny Dundee. I hope you have given yourself plenty of headroom up in the rafters. Look forward to seeing your progress, and don't be afraid of asking questions, we love to offer advice, ocationally it may even be useful Once again welcome to the forum Paul
Thanks for the messages guys, headroom is a little tight for me once the floor goes in etc but a wheeled chair will resolve that issue at times lol.
BigYin65 wrote: Hi BigYin, you will fit in well here, one or two of the lads are into recycling, I know I've picked up a few tips from them, and have done some myself. Pete.
Good, ill have a look for them. I enjoying repairing and making good, so for me it was a simple choice, buy the stuff most dont want and make it run and look good. Always on the look out for tips, and when they are running round a track i can look and think...i made that happen
and Paul AKA BigYin65 from the big land down under. Good to see your up and posting Jump on in and let us know a little about your modelling interests and a few photos as we all like photos. Again Welcome
Hiya BigYin65 from sunny Spain glad to have you aboard .. story sounds similar to mine (refurbing old Triang stuff) Ian
Yes a lot of mine is Triang, Airfix and a few old Limas...doesnt matter to me, they can still run, look good with work and cost a lot less than the new stuff out there.
Forgive my ignorance but with regards posting what section would i use here. Have a couple of finished projects id like to put on to get some feedback...looking for comments on how i could have done things another way or products that could be used etc...or if they want to say its rubbish thats fine...just tell me why it is lol.
BigYin65 wrote: Hi Paul Scroll down the header page there are sections for rolling stock, buildings, locos just pick a heading that looks close to what your going to post open then click the new topic and post away it will populate straight into the rotating current topics one you post.
G`day BigYin65, Sorry I missed you on the first pass. Welcome to the forum. There`s a fair bit of lively banter on here when the lads get going. Some of them are a little eccentric..... I won`t mention any names....they know who they are....just grin and agree with them....they`re OK really.....just don`t mention anything about goats.....that`s my advice to you. Enjoy your ride with us and jump in where ever you like..... http://www.clickGormo
