    If replying to this thread, please bear in mind that;
    1. I designed the track layout with a degree of consideration for signalling, but not total.:scratchchin:

    2. I know nothing about signalling in the real world apart from what I’ve read over the past few days.:confused:

    3. The signals may well be ‘set’ when videoing / taking photos (assuming in making them up I don’t glue working parts together!), but they are not being motorised / operated in day to day use.

    3. I want the layout to be as close to prototype as possible whilst remembering the main objective is to get pleasure from making models and running trains.

    I’m fairly comfortable with my signalling plan, but I’m unsure about what to do about;

    A. The northbound exits from the bay platform and platform 1.
    Trains from the bay can either go to Branch, or the Up line – so a bracket signal with a starter / distant for the branch, and starter for the Up line on a RH bracket seems appropriate. (Although I was debating a fixed distant at the branch tunnel entrance which may make the distant at the bay platform incorrect).

    Trains from Platform 1 can either go to Branch, or the Up line – so again a bracket signal with a starter / distant for the Up line, and starter for the Branch on a LH bracket seems appropriate. (Although I was also debating a fixed distant at the Up line tunnel entrance which again may make the distant at Platform 1 incorrect).

    However that would give me 2 bracket signals with the brackets ‘interfering’. Mounting the bay signal in position A and platform 1 in position B – do you think that would be ‘interfering’. Or is there a better way?

    B The northbound exits from Platform2 and 3.

    Platform 2 is 2 way working, but any trains departing would only go to either Branch or the Up line – so should it be a starter on a LH bracket with possible a route indicator for Branch / Up? And should it be in positon C, or the end of platform2?

    Platform 3 is also 2 way working, as trains coming out of the carriage siding to the north of platform 3 could either go south or north. Same comments as Platform 2 - any trains departing would only go to either Branch or the Up line – so should it be a starter on another LH bracket with possible a route indicator for Branch / Up? And if so presumably a bit further south down the platform so its clear of the slip in position D?

    Any views / opinions?

    I've also attached a pdf of the ovearll station layout.

    Dave we tend to have to compromise with Signals as we are generally working within a compressed scene.
    And unless you are building your own signals there is often not a RTP suitable signal esp if you need a call on or mutipull direction exit ie two starters plus a small arm for the shunting call on etc

    A full gantry may be the way to overcome the space issues with a couple of extras for the branch etc

    Position C would most likely be a ground signal for the cross over to the main for the reverse running on that line, as the space between the tracks would exclude a posted bracket over the track

    Or you can go all colour light with lighted route boards that will solve all the issues, Green for main, Yellow with indicator for diverging routes etc
    Best of luck with the installs don't forget the photos as you go.:thumbs::thumbs:

    Chris - thanks for the input. :)
    I'm considering the use of a gantry at the opposite end of the station - the relevant Ratio kit has already been purchased, although it looks as though I'll need to buy another to span the tracks.

    I am indeed building most of the signals - and I've just started a post in the kit building area, complete with pictures as requested.:thumbup:
