    Somehow I was steered in the direction of a makeover for my old Triang 7" southern coach and the intention is;
    a. replace the wheels with more modern type.
    b. change couplings to Bachmanns with magnetic auto uncouplers.
    c. Refurb/refresn coach body.

    The new Hornby axles are loose and the wheels larger and catching on the bogie frame .. so going to drill out and remove complete bogie and file/elongate the rectangular slots the wheels run in. Next I'll fit brass tophat bearings for the pinpoint axles (on order).

    Hornby wheelsets are available in two diameters Ian, if I remember correctly it's 12.5 and 14mm, so if yours are 14mm, the smaller size may just give you enough clearance from the bogie frames.

    Cheers again Keith but managed to elongate the holes without taking the bogies off. Also found some brass bullet shaped bearings from long ago (now fitted). As the wheels wont be seen behind the arch parapets I'm happy with them .. however I am now inclined to refurb the Triang celesterys so will log all the suggestions. I've now taken the old mk 2 couplings off and by reversing the bogies will fit Bachmann small ones.[size=

    Hey Ian,

    Sorry to comment on a very old post, but I am currently doing a very similar thing to some old Triang MK1's. Quick question. How did you turn the bogies all the way round? Was it simply by cutting away the "pegs" on the underside to allow them to spin?

    Cheers,

    Dom
