Just ordered some copydex. What's the curing time with that stuff ? Also ..... Waiting for some roof trusses and north light roof panels coming from Lcut creative. It would be good if it was all here for the weekend.
Copydex arrived today along with my L cut creative stuff. I feel some buildings going together this weekend. Possibly the north light roof for the " old " section of the wagon works as well. Cheers Toto
Will you be building a locomotive works as well Toto... just like in the film you showed us the other day? Actually the York wagon repair works is still in situ up on Leaman Road... opposite side of road from the NRM there is a big car park in front of it. Paul
Hi York Paul. There is not enough room on the current two baseboards to add a locomotive works but that's not to say that there could not be one on future modules. It's the kind of thing I like. Nice industrial scenes. Never say never. Cheers Toto
Had to look this Copydex stuff up as had never heard of it Down Under https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copydex Interesting about it being called fish glue due to the smell Looks like it’s very similar to latex carpet or textile glue. Couldn’t find it listed as Copydex anywhere in Australia but there are several similar sounding glues listed at Bunnings for carpet and textile material Bonding. Will be interested in how this works, looking forward to seeing the builds.
Hi Chris, The copydex was mentioned as a means of sticking plastic to plywood. It should hopefully prevent the bubbling effect that I had when I tried doing it before when I used a solvent based glue. It may take a bit longer to dry but I can live with that. Cheers Toto
Yes I understand the not enough room feeling, then its a case of staying focussed and in budget too. Paul
Hi Chris, From memory I think Copydex is a derivative form of latex, it certainly smells like fish and you have to work quickly when its exposed to air as it can cure lumpy otherwise. York Paul
Just a wee question, how does a loco or wagons get to the goods shed (the peach building). How about bet you want a drink now Paul
and tweaked a little further yet to provide more of a screen to the traverser to the left hand side ...... makes the carriage works slightly longer ........ cheers toto
Good evening folks. not a lot achieved today. I still feel a little floored with the man flu. My lungs sound like a burst accordion. However, I did take a trip to hobby craft and bought some more Daler board..... better known as ..... photographic mount board. I hope to break cover and hit the shed tomorrow in order to try and create some mock up buildings in order to determine some key measurements etc for track laying and just to provide an idea of the feel of the layouts plan. I'll post up my efforts tomorrow. cheers toto
Hang in there Toto......maybe you could take it easy and think up some new ideas for your layout..????? Gormo
I'm trying not to ........ it currently changes by the day ...... i'm trying to batten it down. cheers toto
