    Think I've enough on the books for now Ian. I need to try and progress what Ive started to date but the O gauge plonk will come.

    Using ready built O gauge point work is always going to be costly, its just the way it is, now I know Tom will run screaming at the idea, but if you buy the components separately and make the points yourself it brings the cost down considerably, Stephen Fay pointed me to a company called Intentio who produce laser cut sleepers, they also do sleeper strip you cut to your own length, C&L do rail chairs separately, and rail can be bought in metre lengths, you have to make your own crossing vee,s but you can buy jigs for these, and file the switch rails, templates for the points can be bought, downloaded off the net.

    Of course more suited to Toto would be the ply and rivet method, where he can drill holes in the ply sleepers (or get 6mm coffee stirrers), insert the rivet, and hit it with a hammer to close the rivet, you can get a tool to do it, but wheres the fun in that.

    Piccy below shows the same for 4mm (P4).

    Top is the rivet

    Top sleeper and middle sleeper are the upper and lower surfaces of the riveted sleeper

    Bottom sleeper is the blank sleeper

    Right is a rivet through the sleeper before closing the rivet.

    The rail is soldered on to the top rivet, then cosmetic chairs can be added.

    Still reckon you cant beat the look of stained timber to look like stained timber :thumbs:

    You are a bad man. :avatar: you never know what I'll attempt these days. I am looking forward to getting home from a Cyprus and getting stuck into one of these etched brass Lowmacs. If I can get my soldering to a good enough standard then you never know.

    I wonder if the Atlas O gauge 2-rail points would be better in some cases. They do a #5 and a #7.5 point in Code 148 flatbottom. I have been on the look-out for Code 125 flat bottom rail points, but I can't seem to find any.
