Hi I'm not brilliant when it comes to the electronic side of things I've just received a couple of small servos to experiment with I've seen a you tube video that converts a servo to work off of a 9v battery and a switch which is sort of what I want to achieve, but then watched another video about the merg servo4 controller am I right in thinking that this also can be operated by a switch or does it have to have something like arduino to operate? Sorry if this is a dumb question:scratchchin:
    Thanks in advance Andy

    Hi Andy
yes a switch can operate the servo 4. But you have to set up the end stops of the servo movement first.
Give me a shout if you need more info.

    Be seeing you

Cheers Bob I will have to become a member before I can purchase any anyway but just looking at my options I like simple and cost is always a consideration and it looks like a resonably cheap way of doing things .
    Thanks Andy

Merg is a great organisation to join there are a lot of very competent people there.
I have been a member for many years now.

Points mostly but I'm sure I will come up with some other things too.

If you want an off the shelf solution, look at Megapoints or Peco or MicroMiniatures or Walthers or Tam Valley
Only the Peco comes with a servo bracket! There are some wood and metal ones on ebay or buy Harman or join MERG and buy theirs or make your own

All the options (needs updating!) here

The recent choices has now become bewildering! I currently have Megapoints but will probably convert to a home made Arduino solution.

The Megapoints (and I am sure some others) come with a setting to use with signals to give 'bounce'

For the price, the Peco kit looks pretty good. I have five points on the layout I'm currently building, but I could not see individual servos etc on the Peco page. Do you know if these are available separately ??

    Cheers, Gary.

    Gary, yes,
    PECO PLS-125
but for 5, you will need two four way controllers!

Servo's are available from lots of sources cheaper, but the bracket is the stumbling block, I have seen better metal brackets on ebay for £4
