So if its a narrower width you need try Halfords, they sell car body lining tape in all sorts of widths and colours, whereas the thinnest tape I've seen is Tamiya masking tape which also comes in various widths but, as far as I know, it only comes in yellow and would likely peel off unless you covered it.....
Well spotted Mike, I missed that one, another option is strips of insulation tape, stuck to a glass sheet, then cut to the widths / shapes you require. It can then be lifted off the sheet and stuck in place. Will probably be better also sealed with a few thin coats of varnish. Paul
Hi, I used black insulation tape cut into 4-5mm strips and 2 coats of clear, spray on gloss varnish. Then I fitted the studs and soldered the wires on instead of just crimping them. Cheers Ron
Thanks for that Mike i just thought they were ignoring me as usual So Halfords do car lining tape in thin widths ? never thought of that, much rather buy a thin one ( yes I meant width ) But that is a while away yet mate Glad SOMEONE was taking notice Cheers Matt
Matt IMHO the laminated print works very nicely... so in true 'Blue Peter' style, here's one I prepared earlier (well actually, it's one I'm working on at present) Its built from MDF and my intention is to sink it into the baseboard. It is made as a lift up so I can get at the 'innards, and has push to make buttons and 99 (yes 99) 2mm lighthouse leds in it - this one is for the fiddle yard and I need to make another for my main board... if ever I get chance to do some modelling. Rather than my usual 1 led for each leg of a turnout, this one lights up a whole row showing route set at a glance... don't half take a long time to solder it all up though..... PS. Sorry Ron for hijacking your thread.... EDIT: to put the images back...
Thanks Mike You should pop that tip about Halfords car lining tape into the hints and tips section, never thought about them doing various widths and colours ! Cheers Matt
Think you could be right Gary, picked up some backscenes for the farm area so that should keep me quiet for a while! Also nice to run some trains and check out the timetable I did a couple of months ago! Cheers Ron
A quiet afternoon in (with 5 John Wayne films on TV!) and I decided to make the cattle dock for Hinchcliffe. Still need to paint the fencing when it's in-situ. cattle dock by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Cheers Ron
Cattle dock in position on the layout, this is a view from the back of the layout. cattle dock by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Cheers Ron
