Hi all I thought I would show some of the 3D prints I made this weekend. The first three are a 7plank wagon . The forth one are some barrels for the goods yard on my new layout. I have also started to make a 3D printed main station building. Bob
Thanks Ian 4mm is the scale I have the STL files for any one that is interested. I cannot guarantee close to scale but it looks OK to me. Bob
Nice one Bob, they look great. Post up some photos once you've got some built please . Cheer's, Pete.
Its going to be the way of the future. I recently saw on a car club outing to a specialist 3d company, an engine block laser photographed in 3d internally and externally. They then produced the sand casting mould and recreated in cast iron , the block of a 90 year old engine. Amazing. Cheers Richard
Nice one Bob, I've yet to try making a wagon. Which software are you using for producing the models ?. Paul
Will do Pete. Richard I have a nephew that works for Jaguar. The last time I was down he showed me the 3D printer they have. It can print a whole car. Paul I used Sketchup to create the STL file then Slic3r for the Gcode. I have a Prusa I3 MK2 printer that I printed these on. And have just bought a JGAURORA A3s. I will be creating the Kyle main station building on this machine to see what the quality is like. I am working on an enclosed wagon for a mobile camera just now. Although decorating the house is getting in the way. Bob
Hi Bob Will be really interested in the wagon for a mobile camera, particularly if it can accommodate GoPro which Lovely Wife says she will lend to me for model railway purposes. Cheers and happy modelling Richard
sorry Richard the wagon is 00 Gauge and will take only a small spy camera . I willl post a pic this weekend Bob
The JGAURORA A3s looks a nice machine, must admit I've never used the second head on my CTC dual head printer, and probably would benefit from changing from dual to single and upgrading the head to a E3D hot end and a bowden feed setup. Paul
That would be the 103 year old Delage Type S. I do realise that this is off topic, but a great read regardless... https://3dprintingindustry.com/news...rought-back-life-3d-scanning-printing-109314/ Cheers, Gary.
So here is the cam truck. and here is a test video not edited ( the movement does not start until 25 secs in). This is on the run around part of the layout the full oval is not complete yet but it gives you an idea of the cam's quality (no extra lighting yet). I have also included some pics of the Kyle main building I am 3D printing Hope you like them. Toto did you get the suprise yet. Bob
Impressive Bob, going to have to get my finger out and start practicing. My next project (besides Toto's traversers) will be some stone bridge abutments - with a slight difference, but then that's another post. Paul
Very nicely done Bob........ Your camera looks to be the same as one I have. Don`t be too concerned about increasing artificial light for your camera as it may create flicker in the videos. I have four fluoro`s in my train room which I`ve converted over to LED fluoro to reduce flicker but I still get some. Your video comes up rather well in the light you have there at the moment. Cheers Gormo
Hi Gormo that is just the natual light coming in from the window. I have LED light plates that I use for the lighting on my old layout. They work great. Just a matter of setting them up on the new layout. Here are a couople of pics. The camera is great I am just working on a wifi device to stream videos to my network and to switch the camera on/off remotely and switch to photo mode automaticly. ( long way off yet). Thanks Bob
Hi Bob, I got your surprise on Friday. Very well received thank you. I have a few pictures taken and loaded just ready to upload. I'll leave the rest in the dark for the moment. I think you have something there. Very good quality indeed. Do you plan more ? I'd be interested. I sent you awe pm earlier. Toto
