Tonight’s update is a little boring. Lack of colour...

    But, a big step forward.

However, before the pictures, a word of caution. I made a mistake of not trimming one of the sheets where hard was on the light card and the other on the heavy card.

No worries I thought, I’ll print another one... now I had printed it all originally on a laser printer, but printed the replacement sheet at home on my inkjet. Looked ok, slight (ok a fair difference in colour) so trimmed it and stuck it down...

Something looked wrong. Got the original and found the reprint was 4mm smaller :faint:. Took it off.. decided that the thin and thick card laminated would make little difference to the panels and used the original instead...

So, after more laminating!, and then laminating those parts:facepalm: (it’s a sturdy structure!) and gluing it up, we’re half way through the top half of D. Now again I found the destructions lacking here, as the front panel is smaller that the back half... I’m hoping it’s like the B structure where the gap at the top is used for the guttering. I hope, it it’s going to look a t1t. It also lacks a base... so the bottom is just open, not that you can see it, but I’m just thinking structurally (in reality not the model) what on Earth is supporting it?

Weighting down.. I didn’t use the lump hammer this time (I did earlier but didn’t photograph that :) )

    And in situe...

Now I’ve hear of localised flooding.... but when I went out to my car...:scratchchin:

Added the outside layer this morning as not much happening at the moment.

Something is missing here.. can’t put my finger on it. But why is that door there?

Given the track a test... bit late considering it’s all glued down (apart from the bits between the rails actually, which is causing some stalling issues.

Decided to try the new 07 out... don’t read too much into this loco being used here. The 33 looked a bit big! :avatar:

Are the printers from the same manufactures and share the same brand of ink ?? I guess it comes down to what the computer sees and how it reads the file before sending it to the printer, which then makes its own mind up !

Something I always do is to print two copies of the kit out and one copy of the instructions. Why ?? It is quite easy to make a mistake and if you have not got a spare sheet, well this is where problems can start, especially if you know you are low on inks or have just changed them for a generic ink.

Why do I print the instructions ?? Saves time going back to the screen to look at them as the computer ain't near my working space ! ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Two were the same make and model laser printer
Sheets 1 & 2 from the top down (but 7 miles apart) the third one was my own HP inkjet sheet 3, which added much more yellow as can be seen in the “use marker on edge” symbol.

Reckon the door's for loading, a swinging hoist would be a nice detail

No idea? I just went with the two laser printed options. I’ve done some jigging about. It simply looks like a roof repair

I'd need to look into this but there are a standard set of settings as determined by I think it's a body called the ICC. If you calibrate all your devices to the same standard as given by them, all colours etc should look the same in all your appliances and in the way they print off. I remember something about this when I was having issues trying to print off constant colours in my photography prints. If I can find the book I had on the subject, I'll post up the details. A very handy thing to be aware of for many applications.

    Cheers

Well we had an eventful weekend in A&E and then on a ward with with the wife. Sadly not all was well but that’s something we as a family will need to deal with. It’s changed the plans for the middle of the year and it’s more back to ad you were... sorry for being a bit cryptic but that’s the most I want to say, so as a result of having to farm the kids off to my parents at very short notice, we decided to go to the zoo yesterday instead.

As a knock on, I’ve hardly done anything to the kit. I’ve cut a few panels out and laminated ready, but that’s as far as I’ve got. So no photos or videos on this update.

It has however been nice to watch other members kits progress, seeing the different routes were taking to give that individual feel, the personal interpretation to the model. To this end, I’ve decided on a sort of name, at least a company name and reason for being of the yard/factory complex. Once I complete the buildings I may need to think about detail, what can be used to set the scene and tell the story visually before anything moves.

Hopefully I may get some more building done tonight or tomorrow after I’ve done my plumbing bits at home (two new taps to fit).
