It's over and were back home The layout went down well with the public, with the Bridge, scenery and traversers grabbing attention and plenty of discussions, a great but tiring weekend, just need to rest up for Elgin, reminds me o a song "Here we go again, off down the road again......." and just to bore you all with another pic Paul
Toto was telling me that you would like to bring the layout down under for next years Rosehill exhibition. Just think, three days exhibiting as well as the travel... Glad to read that the exhibition went well for you. Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary. What exactly is an inglenook layout and what is a back to back inglenook. It looks like a switching layout, albeit in a small space Steve
Actually Ian there almost was a goat, but the stall selling O gauge animals didn't have any goats, definate gap in the marketplace. Paul
Gary I'd love to bring it, but we'd have to relocate the exhibition to the customs impound due having wood in it's construction, maybe the next layout will be made with upvc. Paul
Hi Steve an inglenook is a shunting puzzle type layout that was championed by Alan Wright it’s basically a fan of 3 tracks two of the same length one slightly longer it works with a format of capacity of 5 wagons on the longer track and 3 on each of the shorter tracks and operation is for a total of 8 wagons and a loco, the lead in track can only accommodate 3 wagons and a loco, then the puzzle is to make up a train of a random draw of 5 wagons from the 8 sounds easy but takes a little bit of planning to unlock in the minimum number of moves Steve Gary has created a post just for Inglenooks link http://platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/index.php?threads/what-is-an-inglenook.3569/ This link will provide all the other info you need http://www.wymann.info/ShuntingPuzzles/Inglenook/inglenook-rules.html included is a image from the link that shows the basics Apologies Paul for the off topic but though it easiest way to answer Steve’s question
Paul it would be a costly exercise the wood wouldn’t be a problem but the cost to get it irradiated on import would be prohibitive also you would have to pay a bond to ganantee you would return it back to the uk. But you could print off all the parts again and send the kit of the bridge and Gary and I will build it’s twin
The irony, Aus has import controls AFTER the rabbit epedemic, the toad, epedemic, the rat epedemic, (the pom epedemic) et al, et al
Careful Chris, you may get what ask for as it would easily flat pack, and Toto and I have to pay you back for getting us into O gauge
We survived Elgin, with both Another Bridge and Luib Bridge coping well,(after a few teething problems ). David carrying out a few adjustments - you can tell he's Toto's apprentice And Arry's 3F Jinty made a guest appearance - although he could have washed it first. Paul
OK so it's 5 years since any progress / work / dusting off, actually I'm suprised I managed to find it . The boards were all stored temporarily in 4 different locations - just for a few weeks to allow the dust settle after the exhibition . A few weeks ago I was asked I the club use Another Bridge for the up coming exhibition in October 6 weeks away - yeah no problem, then went on holiday for a week and a bit. For those interested the Toto's Traversers thread has the build trials and many tribulations on those. But the scenic boards have been relocated to the man cave before transporting to the club on Friday. Off on errands so will post more later
A few pics taken at the weekend Mainly of the Yankee Tank and 4 wheel coaches gifted to the club. Tom put in a couple of sterling shifts over the weekend and was great to see him working on models again, also many thanks to Duncan, Josh and Adam for all thier efforts and help over the weekend. We had an issue with one of the traversers, but will be fixed (I hope) - I'm told it will be fixed and to pull my finger out and get it done - simples Paul
