Very popular software package - as used by the flounder

Free version limited to 50 pieces of track, supports most common RTR trackwork.

    Yes,
I have used Anyrail right from the start and found it easy to get a grip of. Not only that, you can now export your Anyrail trackplans into the JMRI layout editor which allows you to create a mimic panel on your computer and control your layout via JMRI.
I have subsequently bought the full package after using the trial version for long enough.
gets the thumbs up from me.
    cheers

I have used Anyrail countless times, just ask Toto ! I highly recommend this track planning software simply for the ease of use. I have devised many track plans for myself and other members, even used it to make recommendations to alter other plans that have come across the varying forums. Anyrail provide updates if their is new items or when new track pieces become available. Can be used in conjunction with Z, N, TT, HO, OO, S, O, SM32, Gauge 1, Lego and so on.

Some of my track plans for small spaces.

    Hi Pete,

You need to export it as a jpg before you can share it with anyone who doesn't have Anyrail installed - look in the 'File' menu for 'Export as' then select 'Picture' and make sure the 'Entire Plan' button is selected then just click 'Ok' and you should be good to go from there.
I'm trying a new layout program at the moment called 'TRAX' - it is web based so you can access files anywhere and I'm helping to beta test a version for tablets and Ipads. I'm liking it so far especially because I can use it on my Android tablet - I'm not a fan of microsoft and now I'm almost to the stage where I don't need a pc at all.

I'll join in here as I used Anyrail to design St Michael and it did what it said on the tin. I used the 'rule' to measure where various track sections should be and these transferred to the actual baseboard exactly. The only problem I had was getting my building dimensions wrong on the station end (that old chestnut human error)

I managed to get Trax to produce this which is further than I have got with any of the others

Being web based I can play with it at work, during my lunch hour of course

I'll go back into hiding now and resurface if or when I've built it....

    Hi Pete,

I'll need to look and see if there is an easy way to guide you through the uploading process. Once you have done it once, it's a piece of toffee. ......... And that says something coming from me.

A shame to have it and not get full use of it. I'll see if there is an easy way to put it into a worded guide.

    Cheers

    Toto

I'll be on the PC this weekend when I get home as I have a few things I need to do so I'll open it up and see if I can write a narrative that is easy enough to understand as the actual process is not difficult. It's just a case of saving it in the correct file format.

    Cheers again

I have drawn up a scale drawing of a proposed extension to LSD. I've never used any soft ware to draw / design a layout before. The design will use c&l products with hand built paintwork and crossings which will not be of a standard design. So my question is would Anyrail handle this design or is there another system that would help.

Anyrail has C&L Finescale F7 track in its track library. I would recommend downloading the free trial version that allows you to use up to 50 pieces of track.

    https://www.anyrail.com/download_en.html

Click on the green download button in the top left corner. Follow the prompts and it will take a couple of minutes to download.

    Cheers, Gary.

    EDIT #

Here is an Anyrail track plan I just drew up in C&L Finescale F7.

    Hi eveyone,

I have used xtracks and anyrail. I found anyrail easier to use, edit and manipulate.

The only problem i had was upgrading the xp laptop to service pack 3 before i could install it.

HI. I'm new and I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to add my voice to the Anyrail, aye camp.

I bought the full version a few years ago and I can hardly fault it. I even recently gotten the hang of navigating the 3d view and using layers (something I'm never comfortable with in Photoshop, et al.)
