Now the nice gentleman from Scorpio Models rang today regarding a kit I'd bought from him last October, the missus answered the call and when I got in earlier this afternoon the note said did I want a locomotive tender:facepalm:. So I rang Mr Ennis back and he said the kit is being posted but he wanted to check first which version of tender I wanted, basically the loco paid for is a BR Standard Class 4 4-6-0 which is a totally reworked kit from the old Transport Age range and the tender I chose is a BR 2A version. I am assured the build problems relating to the way the motion bracket and other bits were engineered have now been simplified through the making of some new castings... quite what as yet I don't know. Anyway the contents of the box will be photographed and posted here as they arrive. So all has come good in the end.

Absolutely Toto, now what is also interesting ... and this one may interest you hot off the press from Mr Ennis... is that Scorpio are drawing up designs for a BR Class 3 loco, one of the 77XXX series and also a BR Standard Mickey Mouse 78XXX 2-6-0 as well as a Standard 4 Tank 80XXX series. These will be brand new kits on a par with the Clan Britannia and 9F... interesting times for BR Standard loco admirers.

Now lets just hope it was worth the wait, and don't drool too much before it arrives :avatar:

I hope so too Paul... but hey you know me ... the kit has to be shared. I think I can handle the build but need to get some of these 4mm ones out the way first. Anyway it will be turned out as 75031 with 2A tender and single chimney as allocated to Stoke shed in 1966, the etch number plate from Fox has been it the etch draw for ages now so I'm committed to it.

There is a gent on RMWeb called Peter who goes under the username of PAD who has built some cracking locos from the Scorpio/Seven models ranges.

It's well worth looking up his various threads in the kitbuild and scratch building section Paul.

Thanks Rob ... I'll go and check that out. The other evening I was going through RMWeb and I came across a chap building a David Andrews Duchess, apparently the resin firebox cast has been made 2mm too narrow and so didn't fit well with the rolled boiler etch, his answer was cut the cast in half down the middle and build it out with Plasticard. His build is well underway now and looks amazing.

Phew that's lucky for me, a Duchess would be overkill for my layout so I'll just stick with Nellie :avatar:

Looking forward to the build threads Paul

Paul - t'other one, not the one from York (we'll not confuse the matter more by telling them were both North Staffy ex-pats)

A Duchess is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for me to take on, I just admire how this chap is building it. I'll start a build thread but I do need to get a couple of the 4mm kits completed as well.

I've just found him Rob... strangely he built a Duchess but not sure its the build I followed, he built an L1 and a GW 51XX which I'm just about to start reading.

So today when I came in after work the postman had delivered a parcel by special recorded post from Pat Ennis of Scorpio Models. On inspection of the contents everything ordered was there and well wrapped in a flat pack format, the brass etches are sharp and well formed with good half etch detailing, the nickel silver frame etches are of a good thickness too and according to the digital caliper measurement of thickness comes in at .8667mm. So as promised here are pictures of the contents starting with wheels.

The Slaters wheels are: Ref 7868B4 driving wheels, Ref7839BR bogie wheels and Ref7836ST for the tender. I appear to have a glut of 18 spoke 5'8" driving wheels now since last week there was a shortage... only these are 7mm and I'm still waiting for the 4mm equivalents to arrive for my C12 build.

Some white metal castings which include the single or double chimney version, I'm going to use the single chimney for this build.

Some tiny pieces to make up buffers and handrail knobs, also a bit of wire for the power pick up

And talking of power here is the Mashima 1833 motor with worm gearing and cog.

I think these brass castings are the new lost wax pieces which replaced the previous unbuildable Jim Harris motion bracket assembly.

And some other brass cast pieces.
