This is the first part of a two part video showing me designing and building the vicarage for St Eldar's church. A number of people had mentioned that they were nervous of scratch building. I hadn't scratch-built anything before returning to modelling a couple of years ago. I hope this encourages others to give it a go so that your layout has something unique on it. Second part on Monday, to help ease back to work blues for those of you still in harness.

Having threatened to do it for a while I finally bought a spy pen to make a track cam that will fit on an N gauge layout. In this video I show you my first attempts at using it, and how I have mounted the camera.

    Hi Steve,

very enjoyable video. Some great platform shots there. Isn't it fantastic what can be achieved through the use of these small cameras. James bond indeed. Many thanks for sharing. well worth watching.

    cheers

Thanks Toto. I was amazed at the quality of the image from so small a camera. Looking forward to playing with this over the next few weeks

Time for the latest update as I show you the workings of my tortured mind in deciding how to landscape the area between the Church and Grey Havens station. The Vicar get a shed for his model railway, I solve the problem of having too puny a hedge, and I play with some trains as well. Enjoy

Very good video with a great commentary. the whole area is really taking shape. I like the way you have used the masking tape / grass strips. The vicarage grounds are taking shape as well.

    looking forward to seeing more

    cheers

Thanks Toto. I was pleased that the idea about the grass strip worked. much tidier than trying to put scenic grass straight on the board.
