Brilliant , I love the idea for the vents, I,ve got the missus to save them when she swops the used ones for new uns, they will look a treat on my Wheeldon buildings (when I get my finger out and do some more work on them). Pete.
Oh it's not all methodical believe me!! Right Severn tunnel East, time to see what it's going to look like!! Well I can visualise it. The book on the right is roughly the spot of the signal box & the one on the left is a P Way hut, The embankment will rise either side of the track to about 8" tall which should frame it in and draw your eye downwards. Timber next to knock some boards up. Attached files
It looks great. The detail between the top of the office roof and the adjoining wall looks a bit awkward though. That part of the wall may have been better plain rather than with the window insetts. maybe not. it is a very impressive build. cheers Toto
Whilst I'm messing about with track I've started to cut some correct 60 foot panels. The peco track needs the sleepers re-spaced to match the correct spacing of the C&L. This is for Severn tunnel east Attached files
Hi Steve, are the two sleepers at each end of the panels prototypically closer together than the rest? Cheers, Pete.
Yes they are it must be to listen the down ward force on the joints. On Ranelagh bridge all my track is hand built and it was drawn out on Templot using GW practice and it's the same on there as well.
When I used to make my track (ply and rivet) - HR either 30ft or 40ft lengths, I made a jig with card board spacers between the sleepers including the shortening of the sleeper gaps at rail joins, and soldered on one rail, and at the 30 or 40 ft rail length would cut part way through. The track would then be installed and the second rail soldered in place using track gauges. I also staggered the actual rail joins, but still put in the cosmetic gaps. The clickety clack was really effective. Paul
Great build there Steve. Thanks for sharing The inside of the shed with pits and rail fitted now looks tops just the right amount of weathering What's next.
