This Competition is for all OO scale modelers. You could say its a bit of a " save our scale " competition. I speak in jest. However, after drawing comments with reference to the O gauge fraternity taking over, I took it as a bit of a call to arms in order to cultivate some healthy OO scale content. So ..... Its a bit of a no brainer really ..... all I am looking for is the OO scale modelers amongst us to start posting or re-juvinating their existing projects and to help rediscover their creative juices again. Its this simple ....... from now until the end of March 2019, I am looking to see a resurgence in the various existing or new OO scale projects. I'm looking for regular posting showcasing what you guys are up to and give us all something fresh to read and participate in. Who ever comes up with the best worked thread and content ....... wins a NCE PowerCab ....... its that easy. I look forward to some interesting new material coming to the fore. best of luck to all who enter. now ..... come on ..... get cracking. cheers toto
Does an O gauge project photographed from further away count , sorry I'll get back in my hutch. Looking forward to see what this produces, four months and help from Santa, game on. Paul
Wel, to be honest... now you mention it... yes there did seem to be an over all feeling of O gauge... but is that a bad thing? Not everyone can do 7mm financial wise (I don’t mean that in a rude way) that said, when new coaches In OO are coming out at £70 is any of it cheap? As I’m starting to redo Oakamoor, hopefully I can contribute here. I’m up for trying to win a new controller.. if not, I’ll enjoy the progress along the way... May the best OOne of us win!
Great stuff. The increase in O Gauge Modelers is not something that was intended. It is all determined by who you get in the door and what they model. It not something I would discourage either as scale matters not a jot. It's all the same hobby. Admittedly in other forums it tends to be the reverse but as I said ....... it depends and relies on everyone contributing to their chosen genre. Good luck with Oakamoor. Cheers Toto
Luck of the draw. I’ve enjoyed following many of the O Threads. Much is the same in most scales anyway... just easier to see
One of the best things with this hobby is that scale, gauge or prototype make no difference all the skills and techniques are basically the same I hope to get back into some real modelling as soon as this thing called real life settles back Down to something more normal. Now if I had an exhibition deadline to work to with a new project,
I hear by pledge, to do my best to post some new stuff. Still having shed issues at the moment. Will build one of the Scalescenes models and post the progress. Please be patient with me. Phil from Australia
Well, I'm already in full construction and creative phase for my OO layout, Gundah Junction. Just finished ballasting the track last night. To be followed by more building construction, making one road, static grass, bits to make the layout more travel friendly, and details, lot, lots more details. Have a bit of a deadline, haven't entered any exhibitions yet, but am thinking Rosehill 2019 (should be easy as in June) and St Luke's Hornsby Heights (my local, in May, should be good for) But the real deadline is my local markets, I want this ready, plus another layout ready for it, in February Then I can get onto what is one of my real goals, my Aussie HO layout. Before the last two happen garage benches and storage need to be built. So much work, so little time. Cheers Tony PS. Don't forget HO modellers (I'm sure an N gauger will also remind you of their presence)
Now what about those who model HO...?? After all, what's half a millimeter between friends... SMR Chris has nailed it. Regardless of what scale you choose to model, it is all railway modelling. We can learn techniques and apply them to the varying scales and gauges. Let's just enjoy the hobby.... Cheers, Gary.
Well I'm getting started, I've already started disassembling parts of Sheringbourne in order to make a roundy-roundy circuit instead of an end to end. I'll start a thread when I really get started!!
About the supposed mismatch between O and OO. I'm with Andy. The lessons and tips apply to both scales, and I read almost all the threads equally. With regard to Toto's comments in "The Footbridge", a good forum should be populated by any and all as long as everybody enjoys it. I feel the pull of the "Dark Side" but it doesn't bother me. The other point Toto makes is about the competitions. If there is an imbalance, it doesn't show in entries. 4 in OO and 3 in O. Cheers Jim
Started to look through the 00 gauge I have now and found a couple of projects I need to get started. I have a kit of Tenterden which will be converted to Gladstone as I build, fingers crossed, along with a railcar and a couple of Stephenson's coach kits. Just looking at the variations I have I am not sure of a period or what meds I was on when buying But it is going to be interesting!
