so i know i have a 009 project on the go but i like to have mulitable silly projects on the go.

so here is the new project.

basically my wife said she would like a winter diaroma to get out for christmas' so obviously this needs to include a train.

my wife decided that this was a good idea and gave me the area of our fire hearth.

amazingly i had a perfect bit of wood in the garage, i just need to build a frame now.

so the concept is a single line from the church to a small station halt running off a dcc automatic shuttle. my wife wants lights and snow and a santa.

luckily i had built the row of shops and church a while ago for another project that has yet to be started, i was reluctant to use them but they will save time and will look the part as they are already lit and have inside detailing.

so i have made a bit more progress on this project, first up was to build a base board. but as this is set to be a christmas direction i used a dado rail to front the board.

next up was to lay the track, now as this is going to be a automated shuttle i didnt just want the train running back and forth across the front so i thought a short tunnel with the church on top of the hill, this way the train disappears into a tunnel.

so laid the track and wired for the dcc automatic shuttle.

i then couldnt resist building the platform (well starting it) placing the buildings in position and putting it where it will live in throughout christmas on the fireplace.

so although i wasnt planning to do much on the layout, i got a little carried away.
to start with with i made the walls for the raised area which he church will sit on top of and the tunnel mouth.

next up was the station, now i normally hate ready to plant building and i like to scratch build everything but time is running out and i just love this station building. it will have inside detail and lit.

so starting to look like a layout!!

so with christmas fast approaching i thought that i better pull my finger out and get on with the christmas project. (well my wife said it had to be done for christmas.)
first up my wife stated that she wanted a little white cottage on the layout next to the row of shops. so as this is being built for my wife her wish was my command, a quick rummage in the scraps box found enough plastikard to quickly scratch build a small low relief cottage.

[highlight= rgb(255, 255, 238);]so next up was to do some scenery, i opted to make basic shape out of placking material and then cover with plaster bandage, i have never done this before and really enjoyed making a massive mess but think it is slowly taking shape. so getting there and will try to finish it for the christmas competition so really must pull my finger out.

Great build so far Jimmy and already has a festive look. A few carol singers and a hidden speaker and you'll have your wife in tears ... http://www.click

so next up was a bit more scenery, its almost a shame to cover most of this in snow, but i thought that it would be best to do fully scenics and then cover in snow.
i painted all the ground brown with poster paint, and laid the road with das air dry clay, those that have seen my operation abyss layout will know how much i love das air dry clay. the road was then painted with normal spray primer for a base.

next up was for some grass and to stick down the buildings, i used gauge master static grass but didnt have a static grass applicator to hand so i just used a puffer bottle.

    so getting there
