On the Saturday morning of the Thornleigh Exhibition, we as exhibitors get a 1 hour free pass into the 2nd hand stall, betwen 8.00 am and 9.00 am, or was it 8.30- 9.30 ?? :scratchchin: There were some great bargains to be had if you knew what you were looking at !

One box set model that I should have snapped up, was the Hornby Orient Express box set, which contains a rebuilt Merchant Navy Class and three Pullman Coaches. I have seen this set for sale on ebay for well over £200.00 ! Foolish me decided not to, just incase SWMBO flipped out when we got home on Monday night. This set was selling for $220.00 Au (£113.30) !! I am kicking myself, but not too hard. :whatever:

    So, what did we purchase...??

Well, Jack's payment for the weekend is either a selection of wagons and coaches or a locomotive. As we are building a US themed layout (Jay Dudyew North Yard) we decided on some US freight wagons. These are them...

Jack hadn't any Grain wagons in his fleet of US rollingstock, so these two (above and below) will do just nicely !

I had purchased Jack two caboose's earlier, but the overall detail on this one is so much better !

All the above wagons were $10.00 each. The caboose above has had some markings removed from above the number, but otherwise, everyone of them are in great condition. All fitted with Kadees which means less work to do if I had to replace the couplings !

The best bargain we walked away with are two Hornby Rollingstock LNER Gresley 61'6" Teak coaches. These coaches sell for anywhere between $100.00 - $135.00 in Australia. I paid $60.00 for two, 1 x 1st Class and 1 x 3rd class coach ! Even one of the Traders at the exhibition was surprised how cheap they were !

Now, to hunt down a Buffet/Dining Coach, another 1st Class Coach, a Brake/Third or two and a Full Brake (Thompson ??) Only if I had a wallet with unlimited funds... :whatever:

    Cheers, Gary.

Lucky Jack with that haul of trucks at $10 each real bargins.

I got the twin to my SSR anniversary loco found it on Sunday still packed in its orignal box as new never removed from box by the look of it, it was in the cabinets hidden right in the corner, have seen these on eBay go for $600
It was only $5 more than orignal price
These were a limited edition of 100 models only
    So really happy with that.

Was very civilised when I walked in just before it close to Exhibitor's wasn't even planing on going in but was dragged in to look at some items for another modeller and found the O scale kit under a pile of books

And the big SSR loco was found whilst stretching my legs and going for a walk decided to do the rounds of the stall to see what was left on Sunday and found by chance the SSR whilst looking at the prices Brass Locos go for now, getting an idea on what my my collection would be valued at current prices and hiding in the corner of the expensive items was the SSR101 and SSR 102 so SSR102 made its escape with me.
So that was my Exhibitor's payments well and truly blown:avatar:
