    Those additional bogie parts look great, would it be possible at some point to have a second set for the Class 27 please?

    Class 26 Canopy and Repaired Windscreen sent - just sundries and cab interior to go then you should have the whole set.

    Jesus ...... someone has been on the night shift. :avatar: are we happy with everything else that we know of Yorkie or do we hang off for the rest of the build ?

    I'm going to stick my neck out here as say as far as the rest of the build is concerned things should be okay, its the bogies which have had most scrutiny and we know the skeleton is good from the Class 27 road test. Now I've yet to start the cabs and body but I don't think that will throw up any snags, however I would advise loosing the inside half etch marks which denote the earlier three vent filter hatches because this only sets up a creasing weak spot when trying to form a true radius at cantrail level. The only area I feel is not practical is the very tight clearance allowed on the notches of Part 25 and Part 26 which the multiple Part 2 fits into, to avoid "unbuildability" the overlay Part 25 needs to be a full width lamination onto Part 26 as currently it is too easily distorted due to its thin state and of course the notches need to be enlarged to allow the Part 2 items to be slipped in from inside the frame channel for soldering. Pre assembly of this component and then soldering to the mainframe base in my experience of the test build would throw up too many difficulties for an average builder.

    With the cabs the sides will need to be ever so slightly rolled inward at the very top to match the body profile. Not by much. Also the recess for the beading will need to be notched at the lower portion behind the cab door. It has to be like this because of the tiny amount of brass holding it in place at the base.

    I'll hang on with the updates until I get the all clear.

    With this rivited strip and parts 2 etc, I'll see if I can get that to an STL and see if that works. Will be in sections though.

    OK here's a pic of the suggested 3d printed item that would sit into a 1/2 recess on the solebar. Dundee has the STL (Check your in box... :thumbup:)

    Also for later here are the three underslung air tanks and frame.

    Hi Steve, you mention a half etched recess in the solebar . Have you added this ?

    York Paul ...... am I correct in saying that this 3D addition does away with the small finicky awkward parts that we spoke about before or am I think king of something else ?

    What's your take on this ?

    Steve ....... have you been to your bed at all. ...... first on and last off . :avatar:

    Yes and yes - revising the etches as I post - you'll see the final PDF's as soon as York Paul advises he's happy.

    Thanks Steve, yes I understand the slight inward tilt of the cab gutter line profile and also the reason for the beading recess, I'm certain this will be fine in the test build.

    On the subject of the beading I couldn't get it onto the canopies and the same with the gutter so what I'm going to do is draw that up in brass like I have with the Class 24/25's and that be bent to suit.

    Yes you are correct thinking this Toto, the new approach adopting a countersunk 3D overlay on the mainframe side is a good move and will eliminate those fiddly Part 2 and 3 items... it will also make the kit significantly more build friendly too. It would matter not a jot if the 3D side frame overlay was in multiple pieces just so long as they aligned in order as some of the Part 2 items near the bogie stretchers are spaced differently.

    Right I'm going to slow it down a bit :avatar: ... no not really but a question to Steve if I may.

    Now in Fig 7.6 Part 60 or 61 the bogie lifting lugs are shown as a pair left and right handed... so the instructions state " Now to the finer detail. The lifting lugs (60 or 61) are varied. The inner axle box guides (53) can be sweated into place"

    So as Fig 7.6 shows the two lugs with a pointer between the outer side frame slots and, seeing as I have 32 of each part do I;

    sweat Part 60 or 61 together so that each lifting lug is formed from two pieces or;

    have we mistakenly got an additional fret included which is not needed?

    Currently I have on the display Class 26 and my own Class 27 interpreted the drawing to read one single half etch piece placed into each slot on the bogie side, this doesn't look wrong but since I have the other bogie to fabricate some clarity of direction is needed please. Do I continue on the second bogie in the same way as I did on the first or do I laminate Part 60 into pairs for each slot? Directions please and sticky note for the future to amend the instructions with detail. :scratchchin: I cannot now remake the first bogie if the lifting lugs should have been laminated together as single items as the frame is now sealed up... so I'm letting this one go as it is.
