I recently acquired three of John Ahern's monographs on Locomotive construction, Scenic modelling, and Model Building construction for the princely sum of $5 (AUD). It is amazing that despite developments in materials and the like, the basic principles have largely remained the same. If you can get a hold of them or the numerous reprints (mine are from the 1970s) I highly recommend reading them.

Yes not much changes dose it over time.
Some of the products get better we have so many more choices in glues and powered tools make some of the jobs that much easier.

As you say Martin these types of books are great reads and really good reference material

Now get to building a model railway.

    That’s a bugger Martin
The last I heard you were back home and looked like you may have had some space to start building something.
Time to move out of the big smoke by the sounds of it.
I’m guessing your still doing the music for the church so probably don’t want to go to far from the city.
Have you finished with Uni yet ??
