I only went to Digitrains to get some Ballast Bond and 'look' at the NCE power cab, got the Ballast Bond, tried the Power cab on a set up layout in the shop and you've guessed it; I bought one!!

And what a thing of beauty it is as well. :avatar: now just to read up on the gizmos you can get for it. :avatar: I assume you will be taking it for a test drive in the shed later.

    Cheers

    Stage one - the handset

Stage two - the quick setup

    Now we've got him :avatar:

Once you have it setup, and had a play, try changing the Clock to the ammeter

    a) In the lower left corner of the Powercab keypad press the Program / Escape (PROG/ESC) key 6 times. You are looking for "SET CAB PARAMS" b) Press "ENTER" key. c) Display will now say: "SHOW TRK CURRENT 1=Y". d) Press "1" key. e) Press PROG/ESC key 2 times to get back to the main screen. if you make a mistake just remove and restore power to the cab and start over.

Now just add your loco's to see what your consumption is.

    Enjoy

    Paul

I don't think you'll regret the Power Cab purchase, Ron.

NCE really do make the DCC stuff as simple as it can possibly be while maintaining full functionality.

as long as the cab address is changed otherwise I think it default 2 or 3 and may clash with the layout set up.

OK, when used as a Powercab, the address is always 2 so if taking it to another layout, take the flat cord and it becomes a Pro cab and change the address as per Page 14 of the Powercab manual.

Errr ... Ron (Sol), I think you mean take the coiled cord. The flat cord is for use as a Power Cab as the master controller with the command station built in. If you want it as a "slave" (i.e. a Pro Cab), the coiled cord is the go, plus changing the cab address when attaching it to the other system.

Note: changing the cab address as a Pro Cab won't affect its default address as a Power Cab when you take it home again.
