Picked up a couple of these. Again, they look very easy to construct with a fair amount of folding involved and mainly nice big parts to deal with.

Etches a little tarnished but were informed of that in the advert and they will clean up fine.

I don't think they come much easier than these forgetting the white metal but even that once mastered would prove no issue.
    nice kits
    cheers

I like the sprung buffers, and on the bright side you cant get the buffer beam the wrong way up

Did you buy them via eBay or direct from the Dragon site? I ask because I noticed that they had a few listed on eBay while having a nosey today.

eBay but I think they are advertising them on eBay themselves and come direct from dragon.

That's what I thought. The postage looks really reasonable per kit too.

Ok ..... after much mulling around trying to decide my next kit build ( following on from my Connoisuer tender wagon ) I have decided on this.

I had big Hope's of doing other more interesting wagons initially but trying to be practical, I was looking for ease rather than please. My kit building skills are really in their infancy so I think its wise to keep honing my skills on the simpler kits until my proficiency increases.

The deciding factor on this kit was minimal white metal, although, I am getting more confident with that now with a couple of builds under my belt ...... and ..... the folding nature of the kit which again reduces the amount of soldering whilst still building on confidence.

I have two of these so if all goes well, I may just rattle them both off it it doesn't get boring after the first completed kit.

I'll be starting this today and I think due to the nature of this kits build, should see some rapid progress.

I invite you all to keep me company as I go along. Feel free to comment with your opinions and comments. This is a usual warts and all type thread so it will highlight any cock ups that may occur as they happen.

I look forward to your company.

    Cheers

    Toto

It makes perfect sense to me starting off building simple 4 wheeler wagons, that's the learning curve we are all on which takes us on to more adventurous and complex things. Great builds Toto and I for one will be following your projects with great interest. :tophat::thumbup:

Good idea building up the maint train, but I thought the Brake van was next

    Thanks chaps .....

here is the outer sole plates soldered into position .....

    and nthe other side .....

this took a little longer than I thought it would as these etches are very thin indeed.

The detail at each corner of the sole plate is pants. I did take a tiny piece off when trimming from the fret at each corner but even if I had not, it is still not the best design finish around. i should be able to dress it up a bit but Mmmmmm ...... id say that this is this kits weak point.

I have a second so when I do it I will remember the corner issue. As I said though, I don't think it will cure all ailments some how. Apart from that and the thin nature of the brass, it is quite a good build.

I think thats me for today ...... I need a brandy ..... or should I say ........ another brandy. :avatar:

    cheers folks

Tomorrow its W irons and wheel sets. Followed by a good stiff measure of brake rigging , axle boxes and springs, strapping, plates and finishing off with buffers and hooks etc.

i will use the supplied buffers as to be honest, i don't want to waste brass buffers on this. although its a reasonable kit ..... white metal will do this.

Now .... to look for my next victim :avatar:

    adios.

I was wondering why this wagon kit hadn't hit my radar but scrolling to the top of the thread realised that it's a Brecon and Merthyr/GWR kit (shudders....:p)
