G`day Folks, This week is a tribute to one year of successful operation on P1. Toto`s baby has grown over the last 12 months to a current membership of 208 and rising. The early days saw only 5 of us at first then 6 and so on until we see what we have today. Hopefully a friendly environment where we are all welcome to participate. So folks, those of you who are new to the forum, don`t be shy and come on in and join in the fun. The video has some archive footage from 25 years ago so apologies for the quality but hopefully you can have a chuckle at it. You can see some of my first major layout, Broadgreen Junction, now long gone and absorbed into Great Chesterford Junction and also some footage of Liverpool Model Railway Exhibition 1991.....yes 1991 !!!.....Oh boy!!! Enjoy the video and Happy Birthday Platform 1 MRC. One Year Of P1MRC on YouTube http://www.clickGormo
Thanks Guys, Glad you liked it. Technology now allows us to take far superior video with a mobile phone, but we do the best we can with the tools we have at the time.....so there you are...???? http://www.clickGormo
Thank you ohhh great master of the media. I bet you guys never knew what you were getting yourselves into . This forum malarkey has been a step into the unknown but has been a worthwhile gamble. It could easily have fallen flat on its chops. At the end of the day, the forum is really just the Platform, it's the people that make it what it is. Without them ........ It's nothing. My idea was to create that space in order to keep everyone together. If there had been a better way of doing that then the forum probably wouldn't exist. However, given that we are scattered to the winds geographically, it gives us a realistic option and works well. We now have year one under out belt and 209 members richer. Top of the list for 2017 for me is not so much growing the forum in terms of new members, although the more the merrier, but hopefully to encourage the members that we already have to get involved. There is nothing better that to log on and see a board jumping with new posts and great layouts to post against. So, ...... To all the new members, take the plunge, your contributions will only enrich what we already have. Anyway ...... Here is to year two and whatever that brings. See you on the forums. Toto
Well said Toto, Yes of course you are correct and I can only echo Toto`s words and encourage any and all new members to show their wares and further enrich the Platform 1 community. http://www.clickGormo
It helps having a wise and knowledgable floundermess ... and the occasional goat ... but indeed to any new member unsure about posting on threads you can be as serious or light hearted as you like, it's fun to join in Ian vt
Nice speech Gormo, I second it and raise a glass to Toto for giving us a fantastic forum to learn and share. Now in the video at around about 4:30 is that a sound chipped loco I can hear in the background. The distinctive 'Bark' of a Terrier?
Top video Gormo loved the old footage of Liverpool and your layout good good to see the origins GCJ. Interesting to see the good variety of layouts and prototype's at the exhibition compared to today's mix. I also second all the comments regarding Platform1 and I also thank Toto for giving us all a place to call home on the net for our modelling with such a friendly place it's enjoyable to open the page and know there's not going to be someone saying that didn't run with those carriages and your missing a rivet or a bolt on the models, we all seem to be just enjoying having fun with our model railways. To all the new members don't be shy in starting a post for your layout or modelling It can be a table top, plank or a train room empire. Be it Thomas the tank or full prototype modelling please share it with us Congratulations Platform1 on making its first anniversary hopefully the first of many. Toto for having faith in the original concept and kicking it off then continually driving it forward it's been a pleasure to be involved with. http://www.click
Congrats on the first birthday, here's to many more. A very friendly bunch on here, I've been made to feel very welcome despite my 'large-scale' orientation! Cheers! http://www.click
G`day Steve, No that was not a terrier, it was our dear friend Beau, a Corgi.....long gone now and sadly missed. http://www.clickGormo
