    G`day Folks,

A bit of recycling for you this week.

This is actually my first video ever put on YouTube about five years ago. It is quite a simple little video but obviously it has something of interest for people as it has had 13,467 views to date.

I think the fact that it clearly shows a brass hinge, used as the mechanism to throw the point tie bar, shows folks that they can develop a robust system for very little money.

My own system has moved on from this early testing but the brass hinge has gone all the way through to the final design. Once the hinge is set up under the point you can pretty much forget it.!!!

I used welding rods for the sliding part, but you could use a nail or whatever you can find of a suitable size as long as it slides freely.

    Enjoy the video

A Gormovision classic - and a straight forward solution.

I liker the the throw control, you could also mount a limit switch to the hinge to give polarity control for the V in a live frog situation (e.g. electrofrogs).

    Enjoy your break

    Yes Paul,

    Absolutely correct re the switching.

In the end, I used micro switches ,placed in strategic positions along side the moving mechanism so that the frog polarity could be changed where necessary.

In addition, a second micro switch has been added in the line to show the point status on a control panel. That project is still unfinished as I need to connect up a load of LED`s.

But getting back to the hinge.........the bloomin` things are bomb proof. You have to be certain, before you fit them, that they are in the correct position and that the slider can move freely, but apart from that, set it, forget it. Any adjustments I have made are in other parts of the system.
