Nice loco the L1 and since the final 70 engines in the order were built by the North British Company this loco will fit very nicely into your fleet.

    Well ..... the pictures

    the box ....

and the bags of casts etc .....

and the chassis frets .... complete with minor damage ..... :scratchchin: I'll check it in more detail when I get the chance .....

and some more battered frets ......

some of these parts are actually a bit bent and buckled .... question is ..... to what extent ....

    more later

There are a couple of good builds of the Gladiator L1 on RMweb, one by Peter Duncan (PAD) and the other by Jonathan Bushell (Scale7JB). I seem to recall that there are a couple of gotcha's to look out for but nothing that's insurmountable and a superb looking loco comes as a result. They are a bit late for my modelling interests but then again so is the B1 and I have one of those so I may find it in my heart to have an L1 too at some point.

I forgot to add, did you get the etches straightened?

Hi Toto, any chance of renaming your thread to LNER/BR and not LMS/BR - I've been looking all over the place for an LMS L1 - do I get a prize for spotting the mistake competition :avatar:

Apart from the valve gear, it looks a fairly straight forward kit, a good follow on from the Nellie / Jinty / Austerity / 4F build plan.

It seems Toto has taken a liking to the Adams L class 0-6-2 tank locos of the NSR which were taken into LMS stock. :avatar:
