Some of you may recall my mentioning in one of my sales ads that I recently sold my Hornby Live Steam locos?

They were as much of my stock Christmas presents from Chris. So having sold them I wanted to buy something that she would recognize as something that she has effectively bought me as a replacement for the items that I sold.

A long term resident of my wish list is an LNER Garratt and it just worked out that the funds that I received from the sale of the live steamers covered the cost of the Garratt from Gladiator and a set of Slaters wheels - quite a bit considering we are talking a 2-8-0-0-8-2 so much so that when I placed the order with Slaters David White rang to make sure that I hadn't inadvertently doubled up by mistake.

The loco kit was kindly collected for me from last weekend's Reading show by Warren Haywood and I popped over to his house last night to pick it up.

I will post the obligatory what's in the box photos as soon as I can but I can't say when the build might comence because that depends on how busy I am with commissions going forward.

Not got your name down for one yet Toto ? :avatar:

Just as a reminder - it's unlikely to fit on your turntable :twitch:

Rob just give us fair warning so I can get a large bag of popcorn in.

    Nice one Rob .
I used to work with a bloke who was the fireman on the LMS built Garratts out of Hasland engine shed here in Chesterfield. He used to tell us how he would have to climb up on the revolving bunker with a big hammer to break up the larger lumps of coal that regularly jammed the works up :avatar:. Toto would have been in awe of him.....

Well was just a banker for heavy coal trains so never needed a turntable... however it does give Toto the excuse to buy 60+ coal wagons of varying types. :avatar:
