Just got hold of an Ex-collectors never been run Class 33, so having hoicked the body off to see what room there is for DCC sound, I find there is an unused 2 pin socket at each end of the PCB marked 'AC', and a matching plug with about 50mm of red and black wire attached in the sealed bag of detail parts. I've only run it on DC so far as I've run out of decoders and am awaiting delivery of a Zimo DCC sound decoder and speaker from John Gymer at Youchoos, but there is no voltage on these 2 sockets (either AC or DC) when the loco runs, may be different with a DCC decoder fitted, but I wondered if anyone might know what, if anything, these connections might be for (Cab lights perhaps)? There is no mention in the included info sheet about these connections, but can anyone throw any light on what these connectors might be for? I'll recheck when I get the decoder and fit it, then follow up with another sound fit "How to" for the benefit of others.
    Keith.

Well, I got my zimo sound decoder today, have it fitted and working, so decided to check the 'AC' sockets again, still no voltage, so assume this connection isn't used on this models PCB. I just have the cab lighting to sort first, then a "How-to" with pics will follow.

    Hi Keith,

May be worth contacting Heljan just to make sure. Especially if you are going to the expense of putting a chip in it.
