It's a question of order

After showing all the steps (on another forum) of my 'Special Load' Wagons, the final design was kept a secret, so viewers had to keep guessing what the two projects would turn out to be and only knew towards the end, as the parts came together and it became more obvious.
For the Windmill project on this forum, I showed all the steps and tribulations of the build along the way and held back an overall view for the big reveal nearer the completion date.
I have just started my next adventure, a rolling stock build, that most would probably say was a scratch build.

The question is, do you prefer to follow the story as it happens or would you prefer to be kept in the dark and shown a polished result and condensed and prepared build afterwards, showing how the result was achieved?

I personally like to show intermittent steps, but not everything. If you ever get asked about a particular stage in the build, you can answer that with extra pics. Photograph all steps/stages, but I don't think it is necessary to post every detail of the build. ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

I like to follow a build. Not as exciting if it comes up all at once. It's something to look forward to. Just my opinion though. Everybody to their own. :tophat:

Like Toto I like to follow the build, warts an all. Mistakes and the remedies are a good learning curve for us all.

I did choose the 'not public' option, so i don't either:avatar:

The odd thing, was that I had to vote, just to see what the scores are? I guess it makes sense so your not biased to what is already winning! :whatever:

I voted as well. I also like to splaff on a bit as well though. Its the first poll ever created on the forum. It can be a good thing ..... a bit like the " like " button but could kill good old fashioned conversation stone dead.

Very good when used in the correct way as it was here. :tophat:

A suggestion though would be if any users creating a poll would like to discourage comments going on the post, it could be advised on the originators initial post.

If you'd like me to clean up this thread ....... give me a shout.

No problem with the comments, but as I didn't vote (being the originator) I could not see what the poll state was, till I voted myself!
5 posters, but 8 votes, so 3 must be just voting! Cool!

P.S. I set it for 7 days, no clue what happens then! :avatar:

I believe I was the first to vote just after the poll was put up. I'm surprised that there are so few votes either way considering how many members there are on here. Maybe some read the posts first to see which way members are leaning.

I try to post the steps as I go on too, although on occasion there can be some passage of time between posts as, despite being retired, I can't always do projects from start to finish in one hit.

Well the seven day poll I set, is up, nothing seems to have changed in the thread, but we shall take it as an 11 to 2 win for hanging out your dirty washing! So be it.
I will post my projects as I go, warts 'n' all, as and when it happens. Don't cuss me if some of them take years!

OK, sussed the poll now, I did not set it to 7 days originally! You can allow voters to change their mind and choose if they can see vote or have to vote to see, etc
Toto, if you want to throw competitions and get the the forum to choose the winner, this would work! (takes the pressure off you:giggle:)
