Some prototype photos from Staveley works, the wagons don't show too well as the loco is the point of interest.

That's a good finish there Pete and it compares well with the prototype, I tried some weathering once at the Doncaster show about three years ago and bought the powders too. They still sit in a box unused but your posts and others make me think I should give it a go but it will have to take its place on the 'to do' list.

    Great looking wagon.

Not too late at all and an excellent finished result.

The mods will be looking at the entries and advising of a winner soon.

    Good luck.

Thanks Jim, it is a fascinating subject in its own right, there are so many variations in styles and methods, but the best way is to get a wagon, coach or old loco that you don't have a use for or is Kn&%^ered and dive in, if you don't like the finish, scrub any powders off, fibre glass pen any paint off and start again, but practice does' make perfect, have a go, once you've done a couple, it get's addictive ;).

Toto, I'm more than happy if people like my efforts, a pat on the back is reward enough I reckon .

    Tell you what Pete...????

That`s a bloomin` good result. The wagon chassis looks like it`s got real rust on it and the overall effect is very convincing.......5 out of 5....:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
