    Hi York Paul

This one was really easy - earlier in the thread, I established the stall and running currents for this loco so knew a standard OO/HO decoder would work (stall current of approx 0.5A, running light engine approx 0.15A).
The only issue I have is the scalded cat syndrome - it doesn't start moving until the speed setting is over 15, and does a good impression of an F1 car on the back straight by speed step 30 (and still has another 90 odd steps to go). Both relatively easy to overcome, but a lot of this is also down to the motor characteristics, and a reasonably priced alternative is available - so ebay here I come.

Just a pity the Hornby TTS 4F sound chip isn't available :(

    And it's on order

The supplier even includes the instructions on his ebay shop site............

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH GAUGEMASTER DC CONTROL
(unless diode array installed...please ask for details.)

    These kits are suitable for:

    • DC with a DC controller (but not Gaugemaster), or
    • DCC with a DCC decoder
BUT NOT ANALOGUE, "Loco 0" on a DCC system without a decoder - they will quickly overheat and get damaged.

This motor will enable much smoother and significantly quieter operation of the Lima 0-Gauge 4F 0-6-0 steam loco.

With it's puny current demand it is also ideal for battery remote control - ask me about easy conversion of your 4F to battery power with bluetooth control from your smartphone or tablet. Visit my Book of Face page at: face bookc om/BatteryTrains (you should be able to work out what to type from that) for more details.

This kit contains a similar motor to the 12mm motor used for 00 models however it has a much longer spindle and larger gear to match the Lima 4F's mechanism. The motor is very tough and you will be able to add weight to your loco to improve traction - however care must be taken as the motor is much hardier than the flimsy Lima gear-chain!

Because of the longer spindle the package cannot be sent letter post, hence the more expensive shipping cost.

    This kit consists of:

    • Brand new, quiet can motor
    • New nylon gear to mesh perfectly with the existing Lima gear-chain
    • Spacer tube to align motor accurately while it is glued in place. (Maximum of ONE spacer per order. Only one is needed for as many installs as you like.)

You will also need and be familiar with using a:

    • Screwdriver
    • Soldering iron
    • High-temperature hot-glue gun (160 degree glue sticks recommended)

What locos will this kit fit?

    • This kit is designed for the Lima 0-gauge 4F ONLY
(See my other items for a BR Class 33/SNCF 67000 kit.)
    Instructions

    • Basic instructions will be included in the parcel (PDF available on request), and unlimited email support will be available.

    Seems simple enough

Hi Paul, if you are planning on using one of the motors that I used on my Lima shunter, you need to get the kit specified for the 4F, there is some difference in the fitting I believe. It should say more on the ebay site.

    Cheer's, Pete.
