Wow very impressive Kim, it reminded me of a photograph of goods/parcels station in Nottingham, where there was another platform with a full canopy, though I think it had rails down both sides, I have always thought it wood make a great subject for a model. I look froward to the finished article .

    Pete.

    Ps, great video too.

    Hi Kim,
the scene looks good. As said before, a very good use of the video showing the scenes through the windows. ( the inside looking out ). The shunter is my favorite I must admit. Love it. Such character.
I notice the shunter truck ....... was that bought as a kit ?
And of course, another great advert for Platform1 in the end title. Many thanks for associating your excellent work with the forum. Does us all proud.
keep the progress coming as it happens. a great read.
    cheers

    Hi Kim,

Have you used the Scalescenes template scaled up to O gauge for the low relief factory ? Or is it of all your own doing, that is scratcbuilt from the design process up ??

    Cheers, Gary.

Thanks Toto. Yes the shunters wagon is a white metal kit that I've built. Almost ready for final painting and detailing. It has a decoder fitted to it to operate red and white lamps....ill post more when it's working.

Hi Gary. Yes, your fault, after I saw it on your layout build I down loaded it and enlarged it to o scale. The first mock up with the printed paper just didn't look right, so I've used the window and door templates and then altered the layout to suit my needs. The extension parts have again used the basic window template parts of the kit. Warehouse door have been reduced in height and two laser cut canopy kits from Lcut have replaced the card ones. I've just ordered from South Eastern Finecast the brick plastic card sheets to finish it.

    Thanks Ron, Pete and Paul.

Yes I think the shot looking out of the Windows is something a bit different.
Made up all the boxed sections at the rear today, which have just had a coat of black paint, I'll post some picture tomorrow when they had dried. The back screen has been made and installed, it fixed with Velcro for easy removal.

I found the site I had seen in Nottingham, its Nottingham London road station, there are loads of photos of it in Google images, the big warehouse there is an ex corn warehouse and it is enormous!

Thanks Pete, very helpful, I've adjusted the height of the canopy as some of the shots on Google show the canopy a lot lower than how I had originally fitted mine. It's now a scale 10 feet high from the platform, and looks a lot better.

    Layout update 12/03/16
Canvass back drop finished (thanks Wifey)Some low relief buildings mounted 50mm behind the rear walling.Black out box's made for lighting system in warehouse (these will cover all the windows and strengthen the model.Canopy lowered and "dry" fitted (still waiting for embossed plasticard to arrive)Main road Entrance to yard made up, ready for some gates, I think the main wall by this entrance will need more detailing by way of some ground floor windows and / or a main entrance door.... what do you think ?Centre steel support has had a piece of wood screwed to it, to square it up, I will be covering this up to form another large chimney to hide the support.Corner rear steel uprights to be painted to match the backdropTop canvass cover is ready to be cut to size.Lighting circuit installed and hopefully this weekend I will get some building lights working.

It is amazing how a few low relief backscene buildings do bring a layout to life. The buildings also emphasize the enormity of the layout.

I'm looking forward to the completion of the main warehouse.

    Cheers, Gary.

Very impressive Kim , it is really starting to take shape, and the long shot gives the size of the layout brilliantly, keep up the good work mate.

    Thanks for all the comments.
Fitting the top canopy cover today standing on the steps gave me this photo opportunity which shows nearly all of the layout plan with most of the main buildings in place.

Hi Kim, got to love a dead line.
Even as a work in progress it's going to impress people
Just place a few little signs that say train man at work :avatar: that's what we did at the show my O scale layout was first at as part of a demonstration of modelling Oscale stand.

Also At the recent Forrestville show the unfinished plywood central O scale layout based on Bodmin got plenty of attention due to the DCC sound that you could actualy hear of the show noise.

With your sound equiped Locos plus interesting couplings system alown your going to WOW them at the show.http://www.click
