Every post this building just gets better and better. Great paint job, the brick work looks the part. Cheers, Gary.
I think the others have said it all, can,t wait to see it with the windows fitted and the weathering done, suppose that will be tomorrow then . Pete.
Thanks for the comments. Well today was spent teaching Ralph how to upload pictures to Platform 1 and also how to use Windows movie maker......I'm sure he will be posting soon. We also managed to print off all the windows for the warehouse on to OHP film, so I will hopefully get those fitted in the next couple of days. Also had a delivery on the door step when I got home. These are the Lionheart Models range that Steve Fay showed us in his layout posting. Yes you are right Steve, very happy with them, excellent models, well worth the money.
Very nice wagons indeed. I'll have to have a look at the Lionheart Models range soon, and possibly be very tempted... Cheers, Gary.
The wagon detail is nice - I prefer the black to the yellow, but I suppose after some juditious weathering it may be difficult to tell them apart Paul
Thanks for the reply's. Just got to get very brave now and get weathering them....In the mean time the windows have slowly been installed to the warehouse and the weathering powders found their way on to the walls, doors and canopy... good or bad, your opinons please, more or less ? going to try and work on the lighting today, hopefully make a big difference to the scene. KIM
Hi KimBO The whole warehouse is great!, as for my opinion the canopy and above a little!! more weathering maybe, but Doors perfect. Looking forward to seeing complete warehouse construction. RALPH
Looking great Kimbo. For the doors, I think you need to darken the gaps between planks, two methods I can think of (there will be many more) 1. apply a wash, capillary action would draw it along the lines, remove excess with a Q tip moistened with thinners. or 2. When painting (a bit late now) the doors, use a base coat of your final colour mixed with a darker shade, then when dry, dry brush your final colour over the top. Paul PS a wash can be made from thinning the paint down to the consistency of ink using the appropriate thinner, with acrylics it is best to add flow improver as well as thinner to help the pigment bind.
Wow I just love the way this thread is going, the warehouse looks amazing , can,t wait to see what comes next . Pete.
Kim this is great and in such quick time.http Re the weathering it's hard to tell some times with modern cameras however being that your period is set in the Industrial age of soot and grime you could probably afford a good dose of extra soot, water staining from the Windows etc also think about some lime staining on the brick work to spice up the look. Another bit you could add some variation too is the canopy maybe with Pauls idea to hilight the spaces between the boards like on the doors would work with the canopy. Super impressed so far.it just gets better and better. http://www.click
The warehouse is great. The doors look spot on. The canopy could do with more weathering maybe. Down to your preference though. I'd be delighted to have it on my layout. Great job. Toto
Looks like Toto has a itch for some O Scale. Great work Kim You have them hooked Resistance is useless And I've been out bid it's just like Evil bay. Great photos by the way Kim
Thanks again for the advise and comments. More weathering will follow and a few more bits of detailing to add as well. Chris / Toto, thanks for the kind "offers", but its needed for the June show. Well I had a complaint from the Corgi Transport Union for the truckers on LSD, (thats the layout not the.....), complaining why they had to load and un-load at the truck bay with no protection from the weather...so to keep the peace and make them happy............ Guy on the loading platform moaning about how long it took!!!!White metal brackets supporting a resin canopy with a resin detailed entrance door way plus some packages. Load Platform still to have a second coat of a darker grey paint.
Bit more progress this morning, but still not happy with the brick work, will have a rest from it and come back another time. Black and white for a change You might just see that the signal box has now got an interior plus some lighting
