I have seen that Noch, Gaugemaster and other model scenic supply manufactures make wild flowers, but for a price. This lead me to make my own, cheaply and in relatively no time at all. All you need is fine brass wire, fine styrofoam balls or poppy seeds, paint, pva, clump foam ie, Jarvis Tree and Hedge Foliage and some foliage flock (optional). 1. The foam. If you can't find this anywhere, use the poppy seeds. I mix the foam balls in a small amount of lilac acrylic paint. You could use any colour, yellow, red, orange, blue, pink etc. After mixing the colour through, wipe these onto a piece of card and allow to dry. Now, take small off cuts of brass wire, about 20mm long (3/4") and dip into PVA. Dip this wet wire into the painted balls, then allow them to harden in a piece of styrofoam. After drying, take a small piece of clump foliage and poke the wire through this to form the base folige of the plant. Now is a good time to dab some PVA onto the clump foliage and add some finer foliage material. Well, after drying the job is just about done. All you need to do now is to plant them into your landscape ! Job done. For more info on the layout pictured above : http://p1mrc.com/p1mrc/view_topic.php?id=145&forum_id=8 Cheers, Gary.
Gary this is just great So simple that I hadn't even thought of that approach. This is the best part of being involved in the hobby and the forum side of things you can learn something new from your peers that in the old days you would maybe found out at a model train club but only if some one was willing to share. Big thanks for being so creative I can build a loco but it's things like this that I often can't see the soloution for out side the box may even be able to get Shelley to help with a project like this. The front of Moonan flat needs a lot of scenic's details like this. http://www.click
Brilliant Gary. So simple to do as well. Might well give it a try later on when I get started on Trevennan again. I can practice on the plank (which is being worked on, honest).
Geez Gary??? You`re setting the bar high mate. That`s beautiful work old son. You`ve scored a five thumbs up for that one My standard high mark is normally 4 but that is exceptional work and deserves a 5. http://www.click gormo
