My door was carded by the postie this morning when I was out so I am assuming this kit is awaiting pick up from the PO tomorrow morning. I'll post up later tomorrow if it is. :tophat:

Looks like a fair bit of nickel silver. That's a good sign because nickel although harder to bend it takes solder better and just seems all around better to work with in my opinion. I look forward to seeing you build this one.

I was waiting a visit from you ..... :avatar: It is a nice little kit and there are a choice of etches that let you decide to build it to different specifications / regions. Although I have quite some list of kits to build, I think this would be near the front as it is one of the more straight forward kits. looks very nice.

    cheers

If Mercian models are as good as the Agenoria were it will make an excellent model. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

    Cheer's, Pete.

    HI Pete,

I take it that you are referring to the original Pete Stamper Agenoria range?- Those added to by Mike Williams (of College Models infamy) have a terrible reputation... That Mike Williams not to be confused with the Mike Williams who does high quality gauge 3 kits.

I have never heard a bad word about those from the Pete Stamper range

    Hi Pete,

there is an element of slot and tab to it. Mainly on the cab, boiler and under section. I think that this will help enormously in getting these main components spot on when soldering them. I think there is also about 3 cab variations as well which just shows how much of the kit will not actually be used. I have not had a proper look at the nickel silver etches as yet but there does seem to be about two ton of that as well. Any more and you'd probably have enough for two kits. :avatar:

The one draw back with Mercian is the despatch / delivery times ( and cost at £15.00 not £12.00 as I had previously stated ). They are very slow at getting these out. However, I have only just noticed that they do make a statement about the bespoke nature of these kits being processed ( what ever that means ) so I suppose they cover themselves there to an extent. Still £ 15.00 .... wow .... Hattons would be charging you £4.00 and that is also royal mail .... it does not add up.

The kits do look worth it though as they certainly seem solid, well made clean etches with decent castings including the condition of the white metal which can sometimes let others down.

I like industrial loco's and this one will go well with the rest but another reason I bought it is that its the first that I have with an outside valve motion albeit in its simplest form. Just a tiny twist to add another small challenge.

    Cheers for now.

Toto those extra cab parts can be used around your works area on the new layout for a bit of added detail etc.

A good idea Chris. Never thought of that. They could be trashed or severely worn / weathered to suggest a replacement / refit has been done. loads of rust and bashes. :avatar:

Spoke to a chap on a demo stall at Perth today. He had one of these constructed on his bench. I was asking him about the Decoder fitting etc as well as a few general questions on the buildability of the kit. Not the most encouraging comments.

He had done an excellent job of his and had added lead shot into the tank. It weighed a ton. It looked great.

He had also added a full cab rear panel to his but I'll stick with the half height version.

    Cheers

    Toto
