Thanks Chris I have now given one of my 41s a work over and it seems to be ok. Now need to figure out what a burn mark looks like so I can put that on too. 41s were known to catch fire on occasion. Cheers Richard
Dave, The 41 is looking good congrats. You have got that well used look just right. Not sure what the burnt parts were. I’m guessing that they didn’t get too badly damaged may have been more related to oil leaks and exhaust parts catching fire due to heat As they ended up putting a extension atop of the hoods for cooling
On the road again with Moonan Flats. The Murrurundi Festival of Model Railways. Murrurundi is located 313ks or a bit over 4 hours drive north of Sydney via the New England Hwy, on the edge of the Liverpool range Murrurundi is a former Railway town and as part of the yearly celebrations of this they have a Model Railway Exhibition With a little difference to the usual train exhibition, in that the layouts are distributed around the town in several venues. A successful weekend exhibiting Moonan Flats at the Murrurundi Model Railway Festival. Plus Moonan Flats makes the News Feed for the Scone Advocate local news. Attached files
Well Moonan Flats is Exhibiting again this weekend at the Richmond Vale Railway Museums Model Trains and Steam weekend. Im located in the Mine Administration building squeezed in amongst the museum artifacts There is a few cm at either end of the layout so it’s a bit tight. Link to the RVR web site http://www.richmondvalerailwaymuseum.org/ http://www.richmondvalerailwaymuseum.org/expo/index.html I will be in this building left side Rear Quarter
I didn’t get to have a good look around as was busy with the layout. I had a new Modeller this afternoon Young Kid 10years old who was showing lots of interest so handed him the Pro cab and he was shunting the trains around for an hour before his Mum said it was time for him to go home. His mum couldn’t believe someone would just hand him the control of a layout with such big expensive models. The out front operating is the best way to go I had so many questions it’s so much more personal being able to converse with some one standing next to you than across a layout What look at the other exhibits I had was after closing, whilst waiting for the BBQ dinner A couple of photos Moonan Flats Thomas Island of Sodor Dr Who Kitson tank No9 Hornby /Triang ROD Ex BHP Diesel No32 Hornby double O 3 Rail Clyde Australia built O-4-0 Marjorie Avonside ST copy I think Thomas Island of Sodor
Will try and get round tomorrow and get a couple more photos of the other displays Last couple N scale Kitson scratch built N Scale steam tram N Scale Coal Train Island of Sodor
Still looking good, but skippy looks like he needs a nose bag - one of Gary's curry selection should get him moving - worked for Toto
Not half. Moonan flat looking tip top Chris. As you say, operating from the front is far more engaging and folks feel less intimidated to ask a question or two and get involved. Nice pictures. Cheers Toto
Yes Richard the only way to go I was using the NCE Pro cab this weekend as knew there would be no others with wireless NCE, At Most shows I use my CVP wireless as there are always issues with NCE only having one frequency the CVP has several options.
A new arrival at Moonan Flats this is 1 of 2 NSWGR 59 Class Baldwin 2-8-2 by DJH kits UK this loco will be Finished as #5917, I haven’t decided what the second locos number will be yet or if it will be a Coal or oil burner the kit comes with part so you can build either versions I needed somewhere to test it and so this afternoon I finally got to set the layout up again it’s been stored away since the RVR exhibition so with the finishing touches to the DJH loco of fitting numbers about to happen, the Next thing to do was put a Decoder in it, I had a old spare TCS WOW V3 it’s been in a few locos for testing etc I fitted a AS3030 speaker in the Die cast boiler Barrel and it makes a super loud sound enclosure. The loco now needs a good run in will have to do on the rolling road as the 8ft of Moonan Flats scenic section will never were it in. All shiny in black 5917 at the end of the line.
