    Chris

That's very impressive indeed. When my wife was at school she had to change trains at Strathfield. She remembers mainline steam locomotives going past, and the warmth as they did so. I changed at Sydenham where it was merely one red rattler after another.
Do you plan to exhibit this again in the Sydney area? (Did I miss you saying you do?)

Great thread Chris and as you say it shows what can be built in a small space... just curious but do the parrots ever get spooked when you mention 'wingnuts'

Not much work going on down at Moonan Flat just been running trains any modelling time has been doing modelling for others :headbanger:recently.

However for a little branch line Moonan Flat sees lots of big engines on trial must be the steep grades that the mechanical department wants to make use of when trialling overhauled locos on the line.

This 38 belongs to my Dad and has arived for some rectification work to get it to run nicely and it will leave with DCC sound as well.

Hi everyone thanks for the comments I'll show my dad

Hay Shiny shine this one, but needs some serious work
To make shiny go round as rods foul on the slide bar on the side that photo was taken, if you look closely you can see the connecting rod hard against the bottom of the slide bar its in completely the wrong angle so will need a complete chassis strip and rebuild also has an issue with the horn block springing.
It's a bit depressing really considering you could buy half the Hornby/Bachmann OO range for what these two 38 class locos cost at least we had 6 years to save up for them.
They will look impressive double heading if I ever get a shed to build my dream layout in.

Re a Video yes will do one when it's done sorry not going to be this week though as still waiting on parts for 3820 to arrive from the manufacture.
But when all the work is done will be like this:headbanger::avatar:
Should do one with 3805 running into the layout and shunting its short train. Can only fit 2 passengers cars and the loco in the little fiddle yard.

I'll do a quick video on my Dads O scale layout Friday night and post up its a work in progress but is interesting all British Locos and rolling stock.

Re Photo Toto :scratchchin: straight from my phone Black locos are the hardest to photo well esp shiny black ones always almost look like a black blob not sure if this loco will get any weathering or stay as preserved loco clean. Up to the owner. (Dad). I'm game if he wants some light weathering.
I will have to get the real camera out when I do the mods and rework on the loco and post up what goes into getting a brass loco working and the DCC install. All you OO DCC sound guys will be envious of the speaker size:faint: that you can fit in a O scale loco:thumbup:

The clue is that its a really big country and a1-40 grade is considered flat in some areas esp NSW so we have all these big engines to pull short trains when compared to the UK railways system, our crack express the Newcastle Express would top 7 cars when it was busy 5 cars the rest of the time.

Our versions of the HST we call it the XPT Express Passanger Train max out at 7 cars usualy and some times as little as 4 cars in the off peek seasons. And we can only reach the magic 100mph in a very few spots.

    Hi Pete
The sugur cubes are really quite good now

My tower models kit Andrew Barclay has a 18mm Soundtraxx "high base" speaker fitted in the side of the cab that I will hide with the cab side coal bunker just fits below cab opening frame.
Need to get on and finish that model.picked it up cheep was painted with thick blue paint.
I rebuilt the chassis and then striped the cast parts, rebuilt and is now painted black just needs all the detail parts refitting.
This is a quick video I did after the chassis rebuild and DCC test
