Very nice. I have not ventured into Daerstades as yet. What is the story with their O gauge loco's ? Are they brass, plastic ? Is there any to avoid ? Cheers Toto
Hi Toto,Not had any dealings with their locomotives. These new wagons have Slaters wheels and three link couplings where as the coarse scale versions do not. I think the range was mainly for tinplate coarse scale modellers but this new range of models look like a "toe in the water" exercise. Nice models, just run them around the track, very smooth and beautifully detailed. Well wagons are all sprung so a heavy load will lower the body onto the axles. Axles are all compensated, well pleased and for £57.50 each (after vat deduction for us Aussies) a bargain.
Beautiful models and look to be bargains too! Just as an aside, seeing these reminded me of a story I was told of a chlorine tanker loading facility built at a company I used to work for, Staveley Chemicals Ltd, they decided that it would be cost effective to build a rail tanker loading bay, on the plant where I used to work, now to move chlorine by rail requires it to be moved on main line standard rail lines so built the loading dock and trackwork to that standard, it cost them a shed load of money, then discovered the rail link on the RailTrack (BR) side wasn't laid to mainline standard so the project was abandoned with red faces all round! Pete.
and I bet a few arses kicked as well Pete. Reminds me of the old saying measure "twice before cutting", only in this case "measure twice before laying "

Hmmmm me thinks I may need to come over for a running session. I'd love to see those shiny things up close.
Those are very nice looking wagons and the price seems quite reasonable as well. The well wagons look great with the timber floor and the ICI and Murgatroyds tankers remind me of my old Triang Hornby models. Cheers, Gary.

Hi Gary, guilty as charged! ICI and Murgatroyd tankers were the first wagons I had as a kid, Regent tanker is from my home town of Birmingham, and the Power tanker is only to be used by a certain Pilot who pops in now and again for a play...I mean testing session !! The well wagons are just amazing for the price, I need to find / make, some really nice loads for them and then use the shackles and some chain to secure the load down. Kim
So tempted by the well wagons esp the ones with the arch bar bogies can see a NSWGR conversion as well may have to get 2. Attached files
Chris you will not be disappointed with the detailing or running qualities. Have you a picture of what you want to convert it to?
Kimbo wrote: Yes image posted below, the NSWGR ones are bit longer than the Uk ones. Cut N Shut 2 may be the answer still cheap enough to cut up and then may use the other 2 end parts for a short way and works may be well wagon Attached files
