When I am in rail yards for work sometimes we get to snoop around while waiting for the scanner to do its thing. This time we were in Lithgow and there was an old PHS guards van sitting nearby looking very sad up on jacks I came up for a closer look, here is an example of extreme weathering on the candy colour scheme. A door was open, might be hard to replicate the checker plate in HO, the RTR manufacturers don't Then I got looking at the brake detail As it was on jacks, decided to look under to see how the bogies attach and the detail when the bogie is not in the way Finally a view at the coupling end, not the protrusion of the centre beam near the coupler, this is quite well represented in the modelling world by a Kadee gear box. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony from what I have been told this PHS Guards / power van is going to be the power van for a Rail Cruise Train that’s being created with some of the old Southern Arora Cars purchased from the Canberra Auction last year. A story about it from the Lithgow Mercury, link https://www.lithgowmercury.com.au/s...shop-to-give-new-aura-to-the-southern-aurora/ They are currently being refurbished at the Lithgow Railway workshop and the work is well underway im guessing the PHS’s Bogies are currently being refurbished ready for the of the PHS body to be then moved to the workshop for repairs and painting. For more info from the LRW link to there FB page https://www.facebook.com/LithgowRailwayWorkshop/
Hi Tony Good to get the update and glad that the Aurora cars are not heading off to a property somewhere as overnight accommodation. Cheers Richard
